I bought a SB100 for the home a few years ago. The new Fusion models can make cappuccinos.

1 edit | reply to gate1975mlm Coffee maker? I thought you were just supposed to eat the beans!
I have one I bought from Wal-Mart when I went off to college almost 9 years ago, and it's still working great!

That's how I feel when I don't get my coffee. |

Basically this belongs to a class of coffee maker called "pod type coffeemakers"
Of the different brands I've seen of these, the Tassimo is pretty much the best supported of the lot. It was co-developed by Braun and Kraft Foods.
Anyway, if you are looking for something that can make you an espresso, a cafe au lait, a cappucino, a cafe crema, a hot chocolate or a regular coffee in under two minutes a cup at a time with minimal cleanup, then one of these would work for you.
Caveat is that the average cup of coffee costs between 30 cents and 80 cents each depending on what type you make yourself.
They're great for people who don't drink a lot of coffee, but enjoy an occasional cup of something exotic. Pods (cartridges) are available at most dept. stores and supermarkets and generally sell in boxes of 10 or 12 for about $4 to $5.
On the other hand if you're like me and just like to leave a pot on for a few hours and drink regular coffee, then you might like what I use...

It's quite well built and has a novel dispensing design with no conventional coffee pot. Instead it uses a tank with a gravity feed to dispense coffee from a bottom valve. Mine's been working fine for me for about a year now. -- So... WHEN exactly does Hell freeze over anyway? »fuzzyrat.com |

Got mine at Kohls 7 years ago. Still works like a champ. No frills - no clocks, timers - nothing. Just a tank, a burner, and a warmer. Makes amazing coffee. |

Well, "best" is certainly subjective. For good 'ol swagging coffee .. identify important criteria, like .. great fast coffee and dependable (built rock solid).
I bought this Bunn unit: »bunn-store.stores.yahoo.net/bunhbhocoma.html
Short of piping water to a machine, this unit holds the next water charge, hot, in it's tank, ready to go.
What really sold me is dependability .. we've used one at work a long time in a 24/7 environment. Cannot begin to estimate the -thousands- of pots that unit has produced .. all flawlessly. I had to have one for home.
edit: Well, after stating I couldn't begin to estimate number of pots per year .. heck, I jerked off my shoes and, combined with my fingers .. it works out to, conservatively:
12 hour shifts = 6 pots per shift x 2 (24 hours) = 12 pots per day x 365 days = 4380 pots per year .. 'round about.

they've since updated the one I had, but same product line.
They did a recall a few years back, I got a phone call from them to find out where to ship the new one to, I was shocked - no hassles, nothing - just "here's your replacement unit, sorry for the hassle"
