I am presently with WildBlue (hello HDMan) and have found out that Verizon EVDO is now available where I live. So, when my contract with WB is up in May, I plan to make the move to EVDO. My nearest neighbor is now using it (after a year with WildBlue)and is very happy. She is using a USB modem in her laptop, and I'm thinking of going that route so that I can also use it in my desktop. My laptop also has an Express Card slot. Right now I have the two comps networked, and I'd really like to do that again so that I can use the laptop downstairs and have the access point near my desktop. I presently have my desktop hardwired to the router via ethernet, and use the laptop builtin wireless function.
In doing some research, I find very few mobile broadband routers that are compatible with the Verizon USB720 modem, which is what I'm thinking of using. The alternative would be the V740 Express card. I keep reading of some bad experiences with the Kyocera KR1 router, which is supposed to support the 720. If someone could share your experiences, that would be great. Thanks.
