| [Help] power steering ?
hey guys, i drive a 2002 Ford Mustang V6, automatic. recently it has been making a weird sound when i drive (i know sound diagnostic is the worse) anyway, as soon as i turn it on, there is this high pitched sound. the more gas i give it, the louder the sound is, it goes lower when the car goes slower i also noticed it makes a louder pitched sound when i turn right or left when the car is stopped.
i know the 02 mustangs had a power steering problem, but if i'm not mistaken it was replaced not too long ago.
any help would be appreciated. thanks. |

@optonline.net | reply to kewlkarim If it's just noise, could be a loose belt or low fluid issue. If you can't turn the wheel, or if it's harder to turn, when cold could be another issue. |

but the wheel turns fine
so i'm not looking at major repairs ? |

| reply to kewlkarim I'll bet the steering fluid is black. Dip your finger in it and smell it. Does it smell burnt? The only remedy I know of is to get the steering flushed with every oil change. In the 98s and up to ? were horrible quality and whining and burned fluid is the result. |
