YouTube - Major League Baseball Strikes out
"Infective banner ads are not new, but it's not so common for them to come with major websites like mlb.com and nhl.com. This video shows how easily even major websites can become victims too, and how difficult it is for them to prevent it." »www.youtube.com/watch?v=8lBUQqufZWc Original write-up was here:
Hackers Use Banner Ads on Major Sites to Hijack Your PC »blog.fliiby.com/archives/2007/11···your-pc/
Thank goodness for Firefox, a HOSTS file which blocks advertising sites, Adblock Plus, and NoScript ... I wouldn't consider browsing the web in any other way.

| 'FixThemNow', 'LongLifePC' and 'GrubbishRemover' are all a part of this intrusive browser hijacking.
This appears (to me anyway) to be animated *.gif's or perhaps a Flash based pop-up ad. Based on CPU activity, I don't see any software doing actual scanning. Do any of you?
I've seen it infect 2 of my favorite sights over the last month, '»www.movie-list.com' and '»wm10.allmusic.com/'
Users are complaining to the Mods about it over at the movie-list.com forums right now too: '»www.movie-list.com/forum/showthr···?t=20605' |
