| reply to Pashune Re: Limewire will NOT connect, no matter what I do.
I have used Limewire with XP for several years and now with Vista for a year without problems. However, Limewire recently wouldn't connect (all those patches from MS this month?). I checked all the settings, router, uninstalled java and Limewire and reinstalled both without success. Finally, I used the fix from "baysmi" above and downloaded the patch from 'pieceofcake." It worked perfectly. |

| reply to tarreaga Should work for Limewire.
I have a 2Wire Router. Found a fix online. Did not have to forward a port or change any Frostwire settings. Go to this site »www.mybloop.com/FTA/fixconnecting.zip. Download and install than restart Frostwire. Worked for me. |

| reply to Pashune If you have already fooled around too much with your lime wire and Java and firewall i recommend the following:
1) reset back your firewall to original, meaning make not exception and out the "check mark" back next you limewire box in the advanced section of your firewall setting
2) completely remove Java and Limewire from using the 'add/remove program' feature in the control panel
3) reinstall limewire from limewire's original website, this will automatically install the Java as well
4) once limewire is installed, open the program
5) click on Tools
6) click on options
7) Scroll all the way down and click on "advanced"
8) Click on "firewall Config"
9) Select the "Do Nothing" option over "UpnP" and click on apply and ok,
10) you will get strong connection all of sudden and the Limewire will configure itself
11) close Limewire, and reopen it
12) Go back to tools, options, advanced, firewall config
13) Switch back to "UpnP " option and apply
Voila..problem Solved
happy Downloading |

| reply to Pashune said by Pashune :said by pensioner :Pashune, WinMX doesn't have to be complicated - stay with the patched 3.54 version and it's just the normal one click install. The various patches are available at » www.mumer.com/mx/Patches/. I would recommend the the first option listed: the 1.3 meg setup. =[ Frozen at this step.. Go here and get Winmx 3.53 and the piepatch auto installer: »www.mxpie.com/downloads.html Install Winmx, then the piepatch and it should connect. -- i wish qwest would die! i want FIOS! |

I want to try WinMX again, but since their real servers got shut down, it seems really complex and confusing to set it up. =| -- I have achieved 3 meg , fastpath sync on a 15,700 ft. 26 ga copper line. =] |

| reply to Pashune don't know if this is the problem or not but could it be your DNS servers. I recently discovered that using OpenDNS I could not connect to WinMX, as soon as I switched over to Charter's automatically assigned numbers, my connection sailed right thru. |

| reply to djr777 Well...the problem with that, is that my Netopia 3347-02 is a full featured ADSL2+ router itself (802.11g + 4-port switch)
I have other modems sitting around, but I really don't prefer Westell 6100s at all (For technical reasons; they sync lower..) -- I have achieved 3 meg , fastpath sync on a 15,700 ft. 26 ga copper line. =] |

| reply to TOPDAWG True, but... I just think it's odd that I have to open certain ports on the router if my sister's PC can connect to limewire just fine (and it's on the same router) -- I have achieved 3 meg , fastpath sync on a 15,700 ft. 26 ga copper line. =] |
