| reply to dragon Dell SC440 from their $249, 3 day sale, such as: »PowerEdge SC440 $249 3 Days Only! Almost bone stock with 512 meg memory (4 Gig of Kingston is in transit), E2140, 80 Gig HD, onboard Gigabit ethernet and USB. The only extra I got is Dell's overpriced floppy drive, ($29) but otherwise a floppy would most likely take up a scarce 5.25" bay.
I'll be adding a 400 Gig Cuda, a Creative 2ZS Platinum Pro, and an i-RAM with 4 Gig (I already have these) and a yet to be determined PCI-e graphics card after modding the x8 slot. |

Upgraded from an overclocked Opteron 175 to a new Core 2 Duo. According to benchmarks, my CPU performance is up 38%. My Kill-A-Watt says my power draw at idle went down from 103W to 86W. And while it was very quiet before it is almost silent now. |

OPERATING SYSTEM: Windows XP Professional x64
VIDEO CARD: Gigabyte Radeon HD 2400XT 256MB GV-RX24T256H
FLOPPY DRIVE: Samsung OEM SFD321B/LBL1
I'm still waiting for most of the parts to come in... dang you UPS. 3 day shipping my ass. Most parts ordered from newegg... love them. Grand total ~ $600 already had a copy of Windows XP x64 and the CRT monitor.
Going from a Sony Vaio Pentium III@750MHz 128MB ram laptop to this... hmmm
UPDATE: All the parts came in on the 24th and everything was smoothly put together. Stress testing the computer for around 10hrs and runs great. Very quiet even compared to my laptop.
