| 2Wire 2700HG-B Problem - Blinking DSL Red Light Hey, i just got a 2wire modem from canadacomputers. I hooked up the power supply and the DSL light starts blinking red. I connected the phone wire and the ethernet wire to my computer and tried to connect to Teksavvy (activated service today). It was not connecting. The blinking red light was still there. What does that mean? I am currently on bell which will get canceled in 5 days. Teksavvy requires 5 days for activation. Should i wait until then and then try again? | |

You will have an internet connection when the light turns green.
Also keep in mind that the modem may also be defective. I've read comments where some 2700's from Canada Computers were bad. But the only way to make sure is to first make sure your line is activated or test with another DSL modem. | |

Just because the line is "activated" doesn't mean it's actually activated. It's normally up to the local telco company to make the decision on that if it's an issue with the modem or not.
Generally speaking, a flashing red DSL light means the modem is not getting the DSL signal. This could be due to many different reasons.
First, make sure all your phones (including home alarm systems, satellite systems, and intercoms) has filters on them. If you need to, take the modem and plug it directly into the NID.
I would also contact your ISP and request for them to do a line test if plugging the modem into the NID gave you the same problems.
Also, if you have more then 1 number going through your jacks, then you're going to need what's call a 2-line DSL filter.
Also note that you might also need to go into 192.168.1.254/setup to replace the keycode that's currently in there with one that will match your ISP's setup or closely related before it picks up the DSL signal (you have no ideal how many times I've seen these modems does weird things like that). | |

Also note that the 2Wire modem needs a very clean line in order for it to work successfully.
If I was in buju shoes, I would wait until Teksavvy becomes active, and if he continues to get the red DSL then he would probably need to contact Teksavvy for a line test. | |

I had 3 but I exchanged one due to a problem that turned out to be Bell (no modem would work).
I have teksavvy and I had the blinking red light.
Has Bell verified with their modem that line works? | |

If you try the same Hub with another Power lead all works ok. There is also a disclaimer on each powerlead which recommends using a surge protector. I guess the power lead is a little oversensitive | |
