Boy, are you lucky! You can have my box as I am moving. I am turning it in tomorrow!!The HDTV reception is non-existent, we have the full package and to put it best "It SUCKS" Can't watch a movie or just about any program without it constantly breaking up or the famous screen notice "This channel will be available shortly" You'll die before it is available. Comcast has serious problems, don't know if it is the box or just maybe their bandwidth due to the HD. Right now I don't care as I will cancel and move....Forget TIVO too!! Usually, the problem you are referring to only affects one customer at a time. When it does, it's usually not the box. Without proper test equipment, there's no way to tell if the problem is outside (Comcast's problem), or inside the house (your problem). You don't indicate any attempt to fix the problem, so I'm not sure if this is simply a rant, but normally this problem is neither the box nor the bandwidth. -- Jay: What the @#$% is the internet??? |

Only 2006 Tv's were manufactured with cablecard slots, in 2007 they gave them up.
The user guide indicates it can pick up unencrypted digital channels, so basic should get him local HD channels then, he'll have to wait for ESPN/HBO/Discover/etc though. |

| reply to bicker said by bicker :That's my experience as well. Component and HDMI are most often mostly comparable in most every way, video-wise. It's a lot easier to fish a HDMI cable up through a wall than a bulky component bundle. |

1 edit | reply to PGHammer said by PGHammer :Depends on what the receiver end wants. Also, most STBs won't output anything greater than 480p over companent (worse, even if the STB will do it, quite a few TVs have issue with greater-than-480p over component, especially lower-priced HDTVs). For this reason, for STBs, I prefer HDMI over component (but CableCARD, if the TV supports it, over HDMI, due to differences between the scalers in the TV and STB; usually, the TV has the better scaler). I have yet to run into a TV that will only do 480p over component. The same goes for STBs. Especially if either has HDMI as an option. The cap on component is generally 1080i and for some TVs it is 720p, although component can carry 1080p I don't think I've ever seen it in use on commercial TVs. Even my more than 9 year old Panny HDTV supports 1080i over component and it has only one option for HD input. |

| reply to cypherstream Cables at stores like BB and CC are the biggest scam going. A couple times, I've told people looking at cables to go to Monoprice, eHDMI or other sites to get them. One time, a sales guy got visibly angry at me.
Don't like it? Don't gouge customers. |
