| I kept my stock cooler on a EVGA 8800GTX 768meg...its fairly quiet.
The VF1000 was reviewed with a few other 8800 coolers.

I have one on my card right now. Havent had any problems with the cooler. I did however have a problem fitting it into my case. One of the memory slots gets in the way IF you have a chip in the slot. |

Theres always the thermalright HR-03 series, they claim to be able to run fanless, but I hear t takes up a full 4 card slots when used with a standard width fan in under the card mode as it can go either hang under or wrap over the card. the HR-03 Plus »www.thermalright.com/new_a_page/···aWFzdA== has 2 extra heatpipes from the looks of things, so that may be a nice model to look at. Has anyone seen any benchmarks of the HR-03 Plus being used fanless with the HR-11 »www.thermalright.com/new_a_page/···aWFzdA== backside cooler? Every time I see anyone use the HR-11 it's being used as an addon for the stock cooler, but never as part of a full fanless setup.
