I'm sorry but i don't concur. The Attenuation and
SNR Margin parameters are static information which
fails to describe the whole situation, as in here:

to clean up on his side of the demarcation box; i

Hi Hoser,
As you can imagine, i wouldn't suggest that we all
need to monitor our respective HardWare for months
before any decision can be made. My purpose is to
simply demonstrate how insufficient statistics can
possibly lead one to the most inadequate advice...
Do you realize that despite a perfectly normal SNR
Margin and Attenuation level i experienced a major
disruptive episode on October 25 at 3:06 AM - and,
on top of this, that while i got mediocre BitRates
6h 39m later, the line went practically noise-less
for hours in a row?... This full-scale curve is a
reconstruction, obviously, but the data is no fake
and every single feature occured exactly as shown;
yet, any decision based on such a rich but limited
evidence could have been inapropriate. At 3:06 AM
an external observer might have concluded that the
MoDem failed of maybe that i needed to reformat my
PC, a few hours later his avice might have been to
replace the MoDem because the line was in pristine
condition... Of course, the correct diagnostic is
radically different: my line happens to behave in
many ways, it suffers from a dissociative identity
disorder, so to speak! How so??? Well, i've come
to recognize that the left part of the graphic had
to do with rare but severe events (a few times per
year), the 2nd half was observable between cooking
hours and there should be a 3rd item corresponding
to household activities (mainly cooking) that used
to be clearly visible on almost all other samples.
Lets mention that the 3rd component vanished after
my profile was changed from 5056/800 Kbps FastPath
to 6016/512 Kbps Interleaved, another interresting
point to make is that no profile DownGrade can fix
the major disruption episodes because even regular
telephone service gets affected when that happens. |

I’m new here. I just got the ST516 v6 with my Telus DSL.
I’m trying to use the DMT tweak tool without any success.
Could you point me in the right direction: ie what is the tweak tool for this, where can I get it from, what can I do to make my modem accessible and tweak able ?
