| Any news on Setanta on FiOS TV?
I know everyone wants more HD. But, I do not have an HD TV yet. So, what I want is more Soccer. It looks like Setanta covers a lot of Premier League and other matches. There was a rumor in 2006 that FiOS would have Setanta some time in 2007. Is there any update on this? |

| Setanta is one of the SDs on the list for when they get capacity to add more channels |

Okay, so what names do you remember? It would be easier to answer whether a specific channel is on the list - which is what I did.
Almost anything anyone has asked for on all the various threads was on the list. VZ programming (Denson's team) had a huge range of deals for niche SD programming, along with all of the HDs that are constantly being requested on this board.
This included lots of international content, both from the Globecast deal (announced in 2006) and elsewhere. There were niche sports services like World Fishing Network, services dedicated to various types of fighting, etc., as well as things like "Blue Horizons TV" which I think had something to do with retirement.
Of course, there were also the sports packages like MLB EI, Center Ice, etc. and the Big 10 network (SD and HD).
In the end, I really only cared about the delivery method and bandwidth it took, not what the pictures were of. But I remember Setanta specifically because someone sent Ivan a letter about it, that made its way to my desk. |

| I sent a letter to both Verizon and Setanta to ask about this. Setanta replied that they are working on it an hope to have news soon. Based on my review of the internet, this has been rumored since 2006. So, I am not going to hold my breath. It would be great if Setanta was added before the 2008/2009 season starts. |

| Man, I was hoping for spring of this year. I read about an expansion of SD and HD channels rumored to roll out from spring through the end of 2008. I thought maybe Setanta would be up front.
I just got into soccer but not until after I had FiOS installed. Couldn't wait to get rid of DirecTV. Now I wish I kept DirecTV for a few more months so I could have Setanta. Strange how the world works.
Thanks for your help. |

| reply to Michael Nvct If this helps anyone, Wikipedia has a list of all current cable networks including ones we don't receive (such as Chiller, TruTV, Retrojams, Moviemania, Reelz, NASA, Retroplex, Link, MGM Channel, RFD, AMG TV) and proposed networks. They also list cable networks no longer in operation. But, it looks like Verizon already gives us most of the best networks, at least in SD if not in HD as well. Mark F. |

I think it was more of a cable network change that a new addition by Verizon though. |

| There were a couple channel name changes this year, for some reason. I kept scratching my head to figure out what 'ID' was, then realized that that was formerly known as Discovery-Times. I forget what the 'I' stands for, but the D is for Discovery. There were a couple others as well - TruTV being one of them. |

| reply to MichaelWacey I scour the web for more info every couple days. Found a snippet in a New York Times article about football from February 12th.
Notes
Setanta Sports North America, a premium network that has about 100,000 subscribers paying $14.99 a month, offers European sports like soccer (190 English Premier League games, and World Cup qualifiers) and rugby. Soon the network will be available on the Verizon FiOS cable network. Until now, Setanta had limited distribution on satellite TV, and in bars and restaurants.

| reply to MichaelWacey Not more than a few days ago I wrote to "customerservice-usa@setanta.com" and got this reply:
"We hope to have something in place with them quite soon, hopefully within a few months. Sorry I cannot be more specific than that, but things are in the works!!!"
Quite vague, but an answer none the less. I'm keeping my fingers crossed. |
