The company behind is 295.ca, an ISP.

1 edit | Re: FREE VOIP for life -softphone- Toronto/Montreal numbers only Link works now. Company info not obvious, but in Terms, it shows the Controller's name, and her email address as @worldline.ca , I think Worldline is a LD provider, not as much a VOIP provider, so may be this is a test market act.
Tried to sign up, but Get Number shows "No Numbers Left" for either Toronto or Quebec. But front screen shows not 5000 in total yet. Not sure.
But I think the sign up page is too simple and a script can be used to eat up all the numbers. They should put a graphics text for screening like many sites do.

EDIT: Just retried and got my Toronto number.

| Re: FREE VOIP for life -softphone- Toronto/Montreal numbers only I tried but no luck. You can register but you can't make/receive phone call. They must use auth_id instead of user id only.
Send an e-mail to them and ask if they support, the answer is 'currently we don't support hardware yet', which means they may support hardware client in the future.

1 edit | Re: FREE VOIP for life -softphone- Toronto/Montreal numbers only I tried using the DID number (1416xxxxxxx) as a user name and my PAP2v1 seems to register without a problem; however, when I called my number from UK, I got into my voicemail.
EDIT: I placed some local calls to Toronto and I kept getting This password is not valid error messages.

Anyone had any success in using 3rd party VoIP/SIP Client software (eg: wxCommunicator, Express Talk)?
3rd party software is asking for "Line URI" in this format:
Would anyone venture a guess (I attempted few combinations, but none of them worked) as to possible value of "Line URI" for FreePhoneLine.ca

@rogers.com | Changing the 'follow-me' number on the website does not seem to work very well. It shows the changes have been saved, yet a call to my number still goes to the previous number that was there.
Anyone else having this issue?

@rogers.com | Follow-me settings are still 'stuck' to original settings, despite changing them repeatedly. Buggy.
They should show current 'follow-me' settings on the web site profile.

@ericsson.ca | try port 6060 instead of 5060. It seems that freephoneline is using 6060. As my softphone does not work, I tried "check network connection" from freephoneline softphone, and it gave info about 6060 and another one (donot remember).

What if freephoneline.ca give us ATA support for free and they take voice mail ads from their sponsors and send them to our voice box? They properly stated about those advertisement voice mail messages. in the service agreement.
