Very true...it should however be good for a year or two.

The company behind is 295.ca, an ISP.

Re: FREE VOIP for life -softphone- Toronto/Montreal numbers only

Link works now. Company info not obvious, but in Terms, it shows the Controller's name, and her email address as @worldline.ca , I think Worldline is a LD provider, not as much a VOIP provider, so may be this is a test market act.

Tried to sign up, but Get Number shows "No Numbers Left" for either Toronto or Quebec. But front screen shows not 5000 in total yet. Not sure.

But I think the sign up page is too simple and a script can be used to eat up all the numbers. They should put a graphics text for screening like many sites do.

Same here.

EDIT: Just retried and got my Toronto number.

They seem to release limited amount of numbers per day. So if you get "no numbers left" try again next morning.

Re: FREE VOIP for life -softphone- Toronto/Montreal numbers only

Anyone use wireshark to figure out how to get their username and password yet, so we can register this on an ATA?

Re: FREE VOIP for life -softphone- Toronto/Montreal numbers only

I tried but no luck. You can register but you can't make/receive phone call. They must use auth_id instead of user id only.

Send an e-mail to them and ask if they support, the answer is 'currently we don't support hardware yet', which means they may support hardware client in the future.

Don't SIPURA ATA devices support this option?

Re: FREE VOIP for life -softphone- Toronto/Montreal numbers only

I can get the ip address of sip server ip 208.65.240.142, but I can't receive/make phone call after I registered it with my PAP2.

server: 208.65.240.142
username: your e-mail
password: your password

Anybody who has freephoneline account can try it.

Re: FREE VOIP for life -softphone- Toronto/Montreal numbers only

I tried using the DID number (1416xxxxxxx) as a user name and my PAP2v1 seems to register without a problem; however, when I called my number from UK, I got into my voicemail.

EDIT: I placed some local calls to Toronto and I kept getting This password is not valid error messages.

Thanks for posting SIP Proxy/server value (208.65.240.142), much appreciated.

Anyone had any success in using 3rd party VoIP/SIP Client software (eg: wxCommunicator, Express Talk)?

3rd party software is asking for "Line URI" in this format:

Would anyone venture a guess (I attempted few combinations, but none of them worked) as to possible value of "Line URI" for FreePhoneLine.ca

Tried, it does not work.
I use the 11 digits phone number as username.
Still get "This password is not valid" when I dial.

Hello,

At this moment we do not support 3rd party SIP phones or ATA's.

We will have a solution available on our web site in the next couple weeks.

Q to freephoneline?
Why your software doesn't run on x64 Windows?

meucumpade

@proconfig.com

This is the configuration on my pap2t-na
Proxy: voip.freephoneline.ca
Dispaly name: My Name
User ID: My 11 digit number
Password: the one I signed up with them
Use Auth ID: YES
Auth ID: the on I found in "C:\Documents and Settings\my_name\FreePhoneLine\FreePhoneLine.cfg"

This is what I got so far.
I now get "This account number is not valid" instead of "This password is not valid"

Any ideas?

It looks like a couple of weeks has gone by and no solution as to BYOD. What gives? Care to respond?

I have the exact same problem. If you look that my original post, I have stated that incoming is not working.

This was posted by an employee of this company in another forum regarding incoming calls.

"This one will be fixed next week, we need some of the staff back from Christmas and we will release an upgrade to the phone which will repair it.

thanks,"

I can't hear anything when I dial out. I use the 1-416-???-???? number and I get ringing, then connected and I hear nothing. It does ring on the other end but it's deal silent. I can't send or receive. Anyone have this problem?

Are you having this problem through the softphone or an ATA device?

Has anybody been able to get their voice mails delivered as emails as stated in the blurb. Do not seem to be any options for setting that up either and no - they are not going into my junk mail folder

sheker

@rogers.com
Changing the 'follow-me' number on the website does not seem to work very well. It shows the changes have been saved, yet a call to my number still goes to the previous number that was there.

Anyone else having this issue?

sheker

@rogers.com
Follow-me settings are still 'stuck' to original settings, despite changing them repeatedly. Buggy.

They should show current 'follow-me' settings on the web site profile.

@ericsson.ca
try port 6060 instead of 5060. It seems that freephoneline is using 6060. As my softphone does not work, I tried "check network connection" from freephoneline softphone, and it gave info about 6060 and another one (donot remember).

Has anybody been able to figure out how to use the service with a hardware ATA ?

Has anyone been able to make a call to a line outside of Toronto. I've tried to call London area which says it is a local call according to the FAQ but it just comes up saying "transferred".

May be they use different servers for soft phone and ATA???

New idea for free ATA support:

What if freephoneline.ca give us ATA support for free and they take voice mail ads from their sponsors and send them to our voice box? They properly stated about those advertisement voice mail messages. in the service agreement.

With a Free ATA + free services + some ads, I don't mind.
