 no activity being received wireless thru my 2wire 1000sw

This is a request for help. I am setting up Internet access through dsl SBC global (AT&T)using my "home portal" 1000sw but it is not transferring data wireless to my portable "Gateway Solo" via a "D-link Airplus" (DWL-650+). Specifically, the connection status says activity is 22,422 bytes sent but "0" received. Earlier tonight I did have it working and turned it off to move to another room. I haven't gotten the wireless connection back from any room nor even when I returned it physically next to the 1000sw and I've rebooted countless times. I think I must have changed something that messed it up. The only thing I can remember is under wireless network connection status support tab I clicked on "repair" and it deleted and attempted to renew the Gateway's IP address.

The Wireless Network Connection box says: "this connection has limited or no connectivity." The wireless network connection properties box says the signal strength is "good." Under its "Advanced" tab, the wireless network connection is checked(the Gateway is physically sitting next to the 2wire 1000sw) The windows firewall advanced settings only checks "Web Server (HTTP) on the Services tab. The advanced settings 'Internet control Message Protocol (ICMP tab) has nothing checked. Under windows firewall box, I clicked restore defaults to default settings of the advanced tab.

The 2wire has all three lights green but that is because of the hardwired second computer hooked to the 2wire that I am using to type this message. The repair result says "windows could not finish repairing the problem because the following action cannot be completed: renewing my IP address."

First off, let me just say that whatever Windows says when clicking the "Repair" button I'll ignore as Windows really doesn't give you much information, instead, I pay more attention to what your ipconfig /renew says (which is run via the command prompt).

Also there could be mainly reasons why your having that limited or no connectivity message. The most common reason for getting the limited or no connectivity message is because the network key you typed in is invalid so you might want to check that.

Other reasons includes wireless interference, firewall, or something wrong with the wireless software installed on your computer that won't use the WEP or WPA key.

Make sure you don't have any firewalls running (either disable them or turn it off, but don't uninstall it as it'll cause some issues sometimes)

Try turning off the encryption from within the 2wire wireless settings then try connecting it the unprotected network.

Also make sure there's nothing around the 2wire that could interfere with the wireless.

If all else fails, get a friend's laptop and try connecting to it again.

Most of the time it's an issue with the OS/driver/software on the computer itself and not an issue with the routers.

First Case closed!
Second: let me thank "netwerk" and "scsa20" for their comments and to the forum manager;
Third: let me say scsa20 was on the money.The wireless 64 bit encryption key was either blank or invalid. When I typed in my telephone number, walaa, it worked and continues to work fine.
thanks again
