Less UpStream speed would improve the DownStream SNR Margin slightly. |

 STMT - RCV, 24 hours CRC-Errors Curve feature |
Hi Tanit,
Really, with those RCO, Attenuation and SNR Margin figures, euh... Oh, and the flatness in the shape of your envelope, euh... You should have no issue and yet the UpStream bandwidth speed appears to be too high or the wiring is causing quite an obscure problem. I regret that the "UpTime" of your 'DMT' sample makes it almost useless in terms of errors, i'll use it but this may lead to innaccuraties!...
We can estimate your "Transmitted CRC" error level to be of 2562/day or so. This is catastrophic for someone who has an Interleaved profile, i believe; it's the worst part because i don't know what kind of failure will cause such an UpStream BottleNeck!
Usually, it's the upper bandwidth that's affected.

Perhaps it's a strong local A.M. radio station, in that case you can try centralized filtering before anything else in order to limit the antenna effect of your wiring. Then, i'd strongly suggest to put a Toroïdal Ferrite choke on the power supply lead, near the MoDem. 3rd but not least, shielding with ferro-magnetic materials does help but it would be an option only to one who resides in his own home.
Please, try to get a reasonable CRC Error curve by using 'STMT' in order to obtain one that's similar to what you'd get from a SpeedStream 4200 D240 and 'DMT v9.01'. A few static numbers hardly suffice.
Try them all if FirmWare v7.4.1.7.0 won't work but i recommend starting with the v5 ones 1st since it provides additional features when used with 'DMT'.

It's an opportunity to remind our readers that the author of 'STMT', BoxFan, added the 24 h CRC Error feature on my request. This was meant to help the SpeedTouch owners by allowing them to obtain a CRC Error record from their Thomson device and yet not even one single post has ever shown such a capture since the release of 'STMT v0.7.2' six months ago!
Common people, the least you can do is to use this tool. It's still a young project and there may be bugs but, if you're able to collect real "dynamic" statistics under the form of CRC Error curves, i'm suggesting it's about time to give BoxFan FeedBack that he has owned by working continuously for you!
Just follow the links or is it too much to click!?

| reply to TilhasBB Thanks TilhasBB, I DID NOT remember what the first Version of my Speedtouch.
1. "6.1.0.5 is the worse of the lot.." -> You mean : this version is bad?
2. "Get the 6.2 UK firmware" --> As the DMT information, I think My Speedtouch is : 516V5 (BANT-J), and Software Variant : AA So I have tried to install 6.2UK (for 516V6 only), but could NOT upgrade. 3."Check your physical setup. everything filtered? alarms, faxes satellite " - DONE. And my ADSL line is a new private line; direct from the ISP to my Router. |

Try 5.4 one wait 24hours to test it out see how many errors and how stable it is. Then try the 6.1 and keep best of the two. |

| here's the way it works.
Your line can do 22783kbps but your line card at the central office says he's only paying for 4101. So only 4101 of the 22783 is used = 18% Which is good which means your line has a lot of room and should have any errors.
Your on an ADSL2+ Card.
Your line is phenomenal but your getting errors on your upload side.
What i recommend you do. Is try each firmware for 24hours and look at the number of errors. the one with the least amount use it.
If your not having any sync issues and its stable leave it as is
Have a good night |
