Re: New firmware for Westell 327W - version 4.4.3

Sorry about that. I meant to say; is 4.03.02.04 the very last version ? I got the link to dowload from someone else in this thread... I think. I had lost my copy I did have.

Anyway, I think I have managed to get the feel of the newest firmware.

Hi guys,

Anyone know for sure if version 4.04.03.00 for the Westell 327w D90 was the exact last firmware before this newest one (4.4.3)? With this newest version I didnt see an option to temporarily disconnect, enter your info again & reconnect, and all that good stuff.

If your internet light goes red with 4.4.3, I see no options to get things back on track other than opening the IE. browser and typing activatemydsl dot verizon dot net.

Yes,I would be interested in a new link to that firmware as well. I have a Westell 6100 at rev 3.02.01.

Thanks for any assist on this matter.

Is the '.upg' file from the quoted westell.com link newer than what I'm running, can anyone tell me?
Yes, the version in the westell link Bullet2k4 See Profile posted for 6100 firmware is 4.04.03.00 and the transceiver version is 7 something.
Does anyone still have access to this link? I get a error whenever I try to visit Bullet's link and the one verizon has up seems outdated in comparison. If there is indeed a 4.04.03.00 for my firmware then I am outdated.

Current Version: VER:03.02.01

I have noticed the same thing. I will try to downgrade and see if it fixes the issue. The connection goes down a few times a day for me. I called tech support but they did nothing.
Are you using a wired or wireless conection when this occurs?
For me, I'm using a wired connection. But I wouldn't think it would matter, since it is the DSL connection that dies, not the Ethernet connection. I can still hit the modem/router just fine, it just says that the status is "pending" and "not ready for Internet access".
I went ahead and downgraded because I couldn't stand it any longer, and so far no dropped connections in a couple of days.

Ever since I upgraded to 4.4.3, my DSL modem loses connection with the internet at least once a day. The home config screen shows the status as "Pending". I have to reboot the modem to reconnect.
Previously, with 3.2.1, this would only happen once every 6 months or so. Now it is happening once or twice a day.

Has anyone else had this problem? If this keeps up, I will need to downgrade to 3.2.1. That is too bad, because I noticed that this version fixed some issues with the firewall.

Re: New firmware for Westell 327W - version 4.4.3

Upgraded my firmware to 4.4.3 last night and everytime I connect to my office using my Cisco VPN software, the modem would reset. Downgraded back to 03.02.00.

I just uploaded the new firmware and I noticed a little speed boost on the Verizon Central web page after the modem rebooted. Since I just got this modem and the Verizon DSL service, I don't have any other comments on how the new firmware is working.

I noticed an improvement in my DSL transceiver stats after I upgraded my Westell B90 327W modem from the original factory firmware (VER:03.02.00a) to the latest firmware (VER:4.04.03.00).

Here's my original 03.02.00a firmware transceiver stats:

Transceiver Revision: 1.0.9.0
Vendor ID Code: 4
Line Mode: G.DMT Mode
Data Path: Interleaved
Transceiver Information Down Stream Path Up Stream Path
DSL Speed (Kbits/Sec) 3360 864
Margin (dB) 14.0 11.0
Line Attenuation (dB) 46.0 28.0
Transmit Power (dBm) 16.7 11.0

Here's my new 4.04.03.00 firmware transceiver stats:

Transceiver Revision: 7.2.3.0
Vendor ID Code: 4
Line Mode: G.DMT Mode
Data Path: Interleaved
Transceiver Information Downstream Path Upstream Path
DSL Speed (Kbits/Sec) 3360 864
Margin (dB) 14.5 11.0
Line Attenuation (dB) 43.5 27.0
Transmit Power (dBm) 16.3 11.8

As you can see my download margin increased by 0.5 dB and my download line attenuation decreased by 2.5 dB. My upload margin remained the same but my upload line attenuation decreased by 1 dB. Have others experienced similar results when upgrading to the latest Westell 327W firmware?

I'm not a Mac user myself, but I believe you can do the 327w updates from any web browser, as the firmware upgrade is to the unit, not anything on your computer itself. The 6100 on the other hand, appears to require a Windows based PC.

ALL

If you want to rollback to your old classic 327w interface ( ver 3.xx.xx) you can use below link to download...

»business.verizon.net/help/dsl/?c···aLinkFix

Let me know if you cannot able to download from above link and i will place it on private server.

BTW: I tried new firmware and it did not work/like it ( it never connected to internet ) so i roll back to original and it rocks...

Thanks for your help. I used Westell 327W when I was in New York.I brought it to go back China. Before I upgraded the firmware, I can use it in China with PPPoE, sometimes it reboot automatically. So I upgraded the firmware for it. I don't know why it does not work after upgraded firmware. I only use Westell 327W.
