| Phone jack Wires Question
THis is how i have it hooked up using 2 wires. | This is my phone jack. |
Hey guys,
This is what I'm doing.
Cat6 (from Demarc outside) ---> Phone jack in my office.
I used the Green/Green White wires to connect to the Demarc & have tried different combos on the jack but nothing seems to work? What wires go to what?
Should I be using 4 wires instead?
here are some pics so you know what im talking about.

If I understand you correctly, and you're using this jack solely for the outgoing modem connection, then you would use the same CAT6 wires to connect to the red and green terminals at the jack. The yellow and black should be redundant. Correct me if I am wrong. |

I'll let you guys know. Thanks -- Computer: Intel Quad Core, 2gb OCZ DDr2, 2x Plextor Burners, Corsair 620psu, Antec 900Case, 5mb DSL from teksavvy

| reply to bryanviper Green wire in the demarc should connect to the green wire in the jack, red wire to the red wire.
Make sure you know which wires in the CAT5e cable you are using so you make the right connections at each end.
If you suspect the cable is bad, you can tie the two wires of the pair together at one end and then check continuity with an ohmmeter at the other. |

| The other lines going into my home should not matter because this Cat6 is going directly to 1 jack for my DSL Modem and nothing else.
here are some pics of the jack. |

Thanks |

| reply to Angelo_ said by Angelo_ :oh damn... i wnated those ends The electric supply warehouse that I deal with, has started carrying network supplies as well, with lots of stuff. If you have one local to you, maybe wander in and see what they have, even in the regular electrical supplies. |
