Watching TV on computer over Internet

I don't have a TV and I don't really want one. But once in a while I would like to watch a football game or TV show or whatever. Is there some way to watch something over the Internet without paying for cable or satellite TV? Like on a per-show or monthly basis? I came across »free-satellite-network.com/ but these guys look shady and I've read some reviews that say they are crooks. I'm looking for something legal but I don't want to pay an arm and a leg or be bound by contracts. Something a la carte would be nice. I would like to see one of the NFL playoff games tomorrow (Green Bay vs. Seattle) but I can't leave the house at this time due to an illness. Thanks.

Yes that site is shady. No you can not legally watch NFL playoff games over the internet.

Network websites liek ABC, CBS, NBC and FOX do offer free showigns of some of thier shows. Also yahoo has some full episodes of shows for free

»tv.yahoo.com/tv-shows-online;_yl···3..Ao9EF

For subscriptions you might want to try Amazon unbox

shimonmor,

For NFL games, nfl.com has replays/highlights of the games.
Go to the NFL Network area.

They offered the Patriots vs Giants game for free (live) a few weeks back.

yes NFL.com did show NFL Network games. Well PART of the games, but those weren't playoffs games. Playoffs are on network TV and NFL.com won't show those.

A cheapo TV and 'rabbit ears' from a yard sale or second-hand store is what you need for football.

There's a ton of other TV and movie content on the www, though.

Just thought I would add that Hulu is still invite only, so if they are stingy with the invites as they have been with me you can try this.

Thanks!
The only thing better than crummy TV on TV is crummy TV on the Internet.

No cable or satellite or locally receivable stations so it is crummy TV on the internet for me.

The closest NBC affiliate which was more than 30 miles away became a FOX affiliate in the mid 90s; don’t think I have watched anything NBC since then. I had thought they no longer existed and were just part of MSNBC.

Re: Watching TV on computer over Internet

I follow an NFL team. Several of their games were blacked out in my area, so I tried Sopcast and TVAnts. They both broadcast some of the games, but the quality was poor and it was more frustrating to watch than it was worth. They do have many other channels, most of them foreign, but I don't know what the quality of those is like. There's probably a Portuguese Polka channel.

Cheaper to just buy a small $100 TV and then use an over the air antenna to watch football or network tv shows. No monthly cost.
