I've been down this road. It's almost as cheap to keep your pots line and downgrade it to the cheapest service, because they give you a bundle discount. Plus, you have the peace of mind that you have a pots line for emergency use.
The cheapest pots service is called Measured Service. You get IIRC 25 outgoing local/toll-free calls per month, and after that it's 10 cents/minute or something like that. Incoming calls are free. It costs less than $5/month, and with taxes and fees, it's about $11/month total.
For VoIP, I personally use AT&T CallVantage. It's been quite reliable and support is good. They offer unlimited service for $25/month, but I get a $5/month bundle discount because I have AT&T Wireless too. |
