| Used or cheap router?
Was just wondering...
I was having connection problems a while back and it turned out that it was my modem that was the problem. In a bizarre conclusion... I took it out in the garage and used my compressor to blow a lot of air through the vents just to make sure it was clean and not over-heating from dust. No dust came out at all (it is kept in a usually closed temperature controlled server closet) but low and behold... it came back to life.
One would think that it was a temperature thing but it is a temp controlled room and it has never happened again. I did take it completely apart and air it out again during the latest DDOS.... doh.
I think it must be on borrowed time but then again... maybe it will last forever. Just in case... I was wondering if you guys have any used/turned in modems that you could sell on the cheap. I would love to have a backup just in case... I know I can check ebay but I would rather give you my money than a stranger on ebay. Heck... maybe you guys have a bunch of them sitting around and we can move a bunch of them from good old DSLR.
All I know is that I do not want to tempt my modem to die during hours that Fry's is closed and then when they open I have to buy something new because I cannot wait.
Whaddya say? Any back up units you guys want to sell? Don't need docs, don't need to be pretty or have the original packaging... just the modem and PS would do for me.

Yes modem... and unless you are coming down this way that might be a haul for either one of us but I would be fine with paying you to throw it in a box for a reasonable price...
Then again, if Sonic does have something that falls into this category then they could send it out and you could keep yours as a back-up. I have a zoom now and it is working but maybe it is getting ready to retire on me so anything that works (and as I understand it from previous threads... a DSL modem is a DSL modem) is all I am after.

There's a chance that we (as in Sonic) might have a refurbished modem we can offer. Let me look through our inventory, and I'll pm you later today if I can find something suitable. |
