While I wouldn't mind a Music forum, I think it would turn into another 'cooler' in short order. And if you're using the Sports forum as an example, I thought that might be a good idea as well - right up until it was actually established. Now I avoid it like The Plague. But that's just my opinion, fwiw.
besides, most of you have lousy taste in music from what little I've seen. (ducks and covers)

I think it's a splendid idea. I think it would be more useful as a forum for people who play instruments to ask questions and some general music chat also...

We have sports, digital imaging, why not music?
There are tons of music related sites that use broadband to stream tunes. So you can't say this is not broadband related.

2 edits | Re: Request for Music Forum... It would have to be the moderator to make sure that kind of stuff doesn't happen. One of the goals of this is forum is to expose people to different types of music, old or new.
An idea would be to have 2 moderators, one on the east coast and one on the west coast to keep an eye out on this forum. There are also the "super mods" who could check in once in a while.
The kind of comments like "that music SUX, lol" would have to be moderated/deleted, not appropriate for this type of forum.
I hope that clears up that point for ya!
Edit: Another idea, if possible, is to ban people from the Music forum only who repeatedly post stuff that doesn't contribute to the forum. I don't know if it's possible, if Justin or another mod could chime in on this that would be great.
By the way, I listen to music from Bob Dylan up, and I'm 16. I don't know if you'll have that kind of problem with those comments often here -- Sriram Satish Teen Tech Enthusiast 2nd Place Networking Concepts, 2008 NJFBLA RCE

And yes I have. And those are the comments I would not want to happen here, and the moderator(s) would have to keep an eye out on it.

So for that reason, *object*. All P2P has to do with Music is how the music is shared. Nothing, from the composition, lyrics, the music, instruments, band members, are touched by P2P.
The mean of sharing has nothing to do with the medium itself. It would be thefore very easy to move the innapropriate thread.

But there will be people who don't like some music, and will post that. If you moderate that stuff, it won't be much of a forum.

Discussion is good. Valid criticism is good. "That music sux, lolz!!" is neither. I think the idea is to have more than just a music opinion forum. Let's see, there's: Vocalists/styles/voices Instruments/help/technical Genres/Classical/Pop/rock/county/etc. and all their differences Music theory Recommendations etc...... Music is a language unto itself, the possibilites are endless. I like Recommendations. Good ones anyway.

Technical aspect aside of some instruments people could share, popular concerts, shows, albums and collections could be discussed among music enthusiasts.
I believe a forum needs only to have a technical aspect, if even not the pièce de résistance of the forum, to be elligible.
I'm certain it would be as popular as the Automative or Wheater forum ...
