Cox, OOL and Comcast both offer AT LEAST 1mbps up, more in some areas. TWC do offer 1 mbps upload and in some markets 2 mbps for residential customers. there you have it. Cable is already ahead of UVERSE in more markets than I thought. A few links »Faster RR speeds! |

That makes me giggle because Charter does have a 1mbps and in some places 2mb up and comcast does NOT in most of their service area. The only places they seem to is chicagoland and where fios is close by.
If I could get Uverse today I would drop comcast in a heartbeat for the upload only. Powerboost is crap for larger files and I pay $55/month for 768kbps up with comcast. So I'd be thrilled with 1500 up for the same money. |

1 edit | reply to bky said by bky :said by MarkyD :I feel that 10mbps down for the price they're asking is slightly absurd. There won't be a ton of users adopting this tier, I bet. Whatever it is that you're smoking, can I have some? Uverse: 10/1.5Mbps = $55/month Time Warner: 10/1Mbps = $54.99/month How can you say that 55 bucks is absurd for T1 upload speeds? Most cable providers (read most) do not currently offer more than 1Mbps upload at it's max tier. Even after adding this speed tier to my uverse service, I still pay considerably less than what I was giving the cable co. what I'm smoking, you probably can't afford. Time Warner is the bastard child of cable companies. Historically, they don't offer CRAP in terms of speed. I pay $42.95 for 12/1 (with powerboost, to boot) on Cox. I have sustained transfer rates from usenet at around 2.2-2.5 MB/sec. Yes, that extra 500kbps from uverse on the upload side is nice, but not enough to make me pay $15 more a month (not to mention the forced TV bundling...) 20/2 would be worth what they're asking, IMO.

The upload is interesting but cable in my area offers 15/2 and in other uverse areas 20/2. What surprises me is that all the uverse 'price conscientious' customers are now upgrading to the new 10/1.5 plan which tells me that price was not as important as the availability of faster speeds. |
