Lot of Millions Served to Go

For the $110 billion investment.

They need to triple that number this year.

any particular reason why you say they need to triple the number? the $110 billion is being made up from FIOS, phone, and TV, not just TV. it also doesn't seem like verizon has money issues, judging on the earnings history and isn't being forseen in the estimates for future quarters.

What supergirl is really saying is that she wants FIOS.

Yeah, not when they raised just about every service price going...! Mandatory bundling and contracts are the norm.. if anything they might see net churn sooner rather than later. Another thing, they can stick that free hdtv for a 2 year contract where the sun... err... you know

I'd take it, and plan to. Since my only other choice is switching back to Comcast. 2yr contracts are short money when you have kids. 2yrs goes by in like 10mins.

226,000 net new FiOS TV customers, 943,000 total FiOS TV customers at year-end; Verizon now has more than 1 million FiOS TV customers.
264,000 net new broadband connections, including 245,000 net new FiOS Internet customers; 8.2 million total broadband connections, up 17.9 percent from year-end 2006.
25.1 percent increase in revenues from strategic services at Verizon Business.

Well, they have at least 1,000,000 FIOS HSI customers since FIOS TV is that much but they need to have triple that number by year's end. $17.5 billion in 2007 capital expenditures is a lot for a company with $93.5 billion in total 2007 revenues, up 6.0 percent from 2006; up 6.1 percent on an adjusted basis.

If they are going to continue justifying FIOS, they need to get more customers. 1 million out of 65.7 million total customers is not that great.

Note: I own the stock and would like to see bigger FIOS numbers. It'll also get the Cable COs to expand their capital investments. FIOS is good for the entire industry since it shows what guts can do but won't if they can't sell it.

@umusic.com

Verizon doesn't have 65.7 million customers. You are confusing them with Verizon Wireless.

Verizon has around 40.1 million landline customers as of today. Most of these customers are in range of lower speed DSL.

The true value of FiOS is achieved when customers subscribe to triple of quadriple play packages consisting of VOIP, TV and HSI. Add wireless to the mix and they love you even more.

What VoIP? Verizon's VoiceWing is a branded third party product.

Phone service over FiOS is POTS. Been one of the most beaten horses around here for the last few years.
