Re: 2Wire modems from Caneris?

it doesn't matter
The logo and model number suffix (B is for SBC/AT&T) may affect the level of firmware which in turn may affect the functionality. See Unlocking BT 2Wire 2700HGV wireless router, e.g. firmware 4.25.19 on the B models gives more WiFi power levels but does not support MAC address filtering and other features.

Do you know what firmware level your modems have? Is it the same for all or does it vary from sample to sample?

You're right, it does matter. What I meant (OK, it was ambiguous) was that it doesn't matter in terms of quality - what we ship out will sync well, regardless of the logo.
We exclude units where the stats deviate by +/- 1.0dB from the norm for these modems on the test line.

The one I'm writing this from at home has a 2Wire logo and has fw 4.25.19. I can crank up the WiFi to a setting of "10" and can't find MAC address filtering anywhere. I've seen some with AT&T logo and I recall discussing with a colleague last week that they weren't all the same, but don't remember the details now...will find out and post here...

Thank Erik..I was the one who asked about the logo in the front of the unit. I tried 2 different ones with 2wire logo and they didnt work at all. Then i remembered about someone mentioning that CC carries the AT&T logo and wondered if those had better chance of working.

I might be in for one of the modems. I will wait for your response on the difference between the 2 models.

Btw, what are your delivery hours in the GTA?

Judging from the hundreds of units which we have tested and sold in the past we can conclude with certainty that there is no direct correlation between firmware and logo, firmware and wifi power levels, power levels and serial numbers.

Proof:

Sample Modem 1: Logo:2Wire WiFi P.L.: 10 Firmware: 4.25.19
Sn:19061102275/4200-001011-002

Sample Modem 2: Logo At&T WiFi P.L.: 4 Firmware:4.25.19
Sn:310611018706/4200-001011-006

Sample Modem 3: Logo:At&T WiFi P.L.: 10 Firmware:4.25.19
Sn:360611060323/4200-001011-006

Sample Modem 4: Logo:2Wire WiFi P.L.: 4 Firmware:4.25.19
Sn:300611068515/4200-001011-004

EDIT: small correction to the list above

See my last post above. There is no differences DSL-wise. Every modem we sell performs just as well as any other.
