| DIR-855 issues
I pre-ordered one and it arrived a few days ago. Unfortunately, I'm having issues with it. I can't connect to the 5ghz radio with any of my laptops or with my D-Link MediaBridge (DAP-1555). The mediabridge log shows the radio connecting and then dropping after a few seconds.
Here is the log from the DIR-855. Any ideas?

| You're not alone. Received mine yesterday, and none of my wireless devices connect reliably. So far I've been able to get my laptop (with a Broadcom 4321AG draft-n card) to connect to the 5ghz network once when it was in close proximity to the router. None of my other wireless devices are connecting on the 2.4ghz network at all-- they see the ssid but all connections are failing. The Vista error message says: "Wireless association failed because Windows did not receive any response from the wireless router or access point." My Nokia internet tablet simply says "Network connection error."
I purchased the DIR-855 to replace my Verizon FIOS ActionTec router. I had no problem with the ActionTec's 2.4ghz wireless signal anywhere in my house.
Spent half an hour on the phone tonight with a DLink Level One tech to no avail-- no Level 2s available now so looks like I'll have to try again tomorrow.
I hope we're not dealing with a lemon here... |

Good luck! I also spent over half an hour with a L1 tech to be told that the problem might be on the computer's end rather than the router's end. |

| reply to Moosic well I spoke to premier support (who by the way isnt even part of
D-Link) and they have no idea.
I left a message for the engineering department at D-link with the hope they will return my call. I also have a DIR-855 with TWO DAP-1555 and cannot connect unless I am less than 10 feet away. Simply unacceptable for almost $600 worth of equipment. |

@skyriver.net | reply to rahrens I'm able to connect to the 2.4 radio without issue. Unfortunately, I had to go out of town for a week, so I haven't had a chance to work on this again. |

@rr.com | well keep us posted. I still cannot get either one of my dap-1555 to connect. I also cannot go more than 10 feet before I lose a connection. |

| reply to Moosic I've had a chance to work on this some more tonight. 2.4ghz is now working ok for me but range is much less than my 1-1/2 year old ActionTec. 5ghz works only if my laptop is a few feet away from the DIR-855. I have tried numerous orientations/antenna positions with no improvements...
This is unacceptable for a $300 product. I'm on the verge of returning mine as I have no desire to be a paying beta tester. |

@rr.com | agreed!! I plan on calling d-link again tomorrow to complain.
will keep you posted. |

I was responding for a DIR855 post, which I also recently obtained to try the dualband wireless. I too am having the same issues as Moosic in that one laptop with 802.11a card keeps getting associated and dropped. I think there are still a lot of bugs to be fixed. |

@rr.com | still no luck
can reach a soul in D-link that seems to care or know about these issues.
Will keep trying. I emailed an ombudsman who does an article for our paper to see if he can help.
will keep you posted |

@rr.com | reply to dirk_diggler D-link is a total joke.
I left a two messages for their engineering department, no call back. I tried to reach the Presidents office, no |

| well I finally reached David in tech support level 3. He is not specifically aware of this and has offered to send out a replacement. If you are having issues, I STRONGLY urge you to call customer service and open up a file. The engineers are in Taiwan and if a large scale issue exists we need to come out in numbers and advise them of this current issue. |

| Hi Aleic. That's a great idea. I've been calling the 1-877-453-5465 number, so maybe I need to ask for higher level support whenever I get a person to finally answer. The last person I talked to mentioned that since I purchased the unit from D-Link directly, they can either send out a replacement or return it completely. I'm not holding my breath, but hopefully D-Link delivers. Good luck with your replacement. |

@rcn.com | reply to Moosic I'm having the same issues as the original poster...keeps connecting and disconnecting on the 5ghz band. Is this what the recall is about? Using a macbook pro to connect btw in mac os leopard. |

join:2008-02-09 | reply to Moosic customer service has no idea what's going on. Telling me my issues are because I have metal objects in my house and the issues on the 5ghz band are because of the 2.4 ghz telephone that i don't own. |

Suxor. oh well. Going through the RMA process now. |
