I see that Insight in Columbus, OH recently added 15 meg service for an extra $10/mo. They call it "Turbo". I'm going to see if WOW can match that speed, else I'm gone. |

| reply to FileShackOrg said by FileShackOrg :It sucks but I fear that it is true wow is planning on upping us saps to a whopping 10 down. When I left WOW a few months ago and switched to Insight for their 7 meg downloads, somebody from WOW called me a few weeks later. He offered me a HUGE discount to come back and I accepted. I still had their 6 meg package and analog cable service. Yesterday, I called the special 800 # he gave me and talked to him again and said that Insight-Com here in Columbus, OH is offering 15 megs and wanted to know what they could do. He said not much. They offered some free movie channels, great discount on going digital and some other nice little things but I told him the 15 megs is to tempting to pass up. He admitted that WOW was indeed planning on rolling out a 10 meg service some time in 2008 but 15 is greater than 10. I called Insight-Com and placed my order. They'll be here Monday. I told him I loved WOW and their services but they need to keep up on the speeds. |

| reply to john1290 WOW will upgrade to 10mb very soon.......
More important than blanketing an area with a higher speed it to offer a speed that will not compromise your quality of service. Something that TW, Insight, Comcast, etc. dont seem to be concerned about.
Stick with WOW! They will come through like they always have.... |

| reply to john1290 gene32- i guarantee if i look at your 15mb service, you are using no where near that speed on a consistent basis. And Insight has no way of guaranteeing it anyway.
the problem is that a very small percentage of users hog all the bandwidth. Any idea what the average per use consumption is? Less than 768 DS, and 256 US. This is a gloried email/websurfer that occasionally donwloads music.
I still have no idea what you need 15mb for......
I have worked from home for 10 years. 4 comptuers in the house connected to the wireless router. All 4 use my 4mb cable modem service daily. Everything i do- web, vpn, vonage IP phone, etc. is done without issue over the 4mb connection.
someone tell me what you need 10,15,20 mb for? ATT is doing it because they have to for video. OTher than that, i cant figure it out. |
