1 edit | Re: Thank you Mark • The WGR614v5 is your router. What MODEM do you have?
• Pull the WGR614v5 and plug the box directly into the MODEM. Reboot the MODEM and then the box.
What speeds do you get now?
• Now with the router out of the picture, see if you can run the LQT. »/linequality -- "You can observe a lot by watching". Yogi Berra

| Sorry for slow response Irish Shark I haven't felt well the last few days & will need to get someone to help me unplug & replug things behind this corner desk for me since I'm not too bendable. There is no name I can see on the cable modem, but the model #60678EU on google comes up as an Ambit Speedstream.
I should be able to do the rest of what you mentioned tonight or tomorrow and will post my results at that time.
Thanks for your response Irish Shark

| Re: Sorry for slow response Irish Shark Not to worry. Hope you feel better.
Go here »192.168.100.1/ You may be prompted for a username and password. The username is root and the password is also root. Some Ambit cable modems have the information you are after on more than one web page.

| Hi Irish Shark I finally am back online after being down with the flu a couple weeks. That was a nasty one, but anyways, I did want to let you know something that I found out today from my cable company. I only have the basic service which is 320k speed, so after looking at what my speeds were when I ran the previous tests, they don't seem too bad compared to what my max can be. So unless I decide to pay for a faster speed, I won't go any further into checking anything else unless for some reason you think I should.
Thanks so much for your kindness and patience with me last month. I sure appreciate it.

| Re: Hi Irish Shark Donna, glad to hear that you are feeling better. Unless you go to a higher tier, that looks like the best that you are going to do.

| Re: [Cable] Tweak my connection? I am also new to forum Thanks for your response.
My modem is NETGEAR WGR614v5
Here is the fastest UL speed on my other desktop computer which runs Win98 & is wired to the router:
It was from Miami, but Speakeasy's in NY was one number faster on the DL. Its numbers were 299/297.
On my laptop which has XP on it and has a wireless connection to the router, Miami & Speakeasy's NY location were the same highest downloads. Here is Miami's:

Speakeasy was 299/293. For the record, San Francisco had the highest of upload speeds. Its numbers were: 285/334
