Re: Stalling With XP and AOL Plus & Westell Modem

Begin by clicking on the Start button in the bottom left side of your desktop. Then move the mouse over to Control Panel and click (as seen below).

This will open the Control Panel window. This is where you make most changes on your system. The next step for setting up your DSL is to click on the Network icon (pictured below).

Double click on the Icon labeled Network Connections. This will bring up the window you see below. Double click on the Local Area Connection icon at the top.

Now you should see the Local Area Connection window (seen below). Click on the Properties button on the bottom left of the screen.

In the Local Area Connection Properties window, you will see several items with check marks (as seen below). Click once on the one labeled Internet Protocol (TCP/IP). It should become highlighted like the one shown below. Next click on the Properties button directly below the Internet Protocol (TCP/IP).

This will bring you to the final window in your DSL setup. The Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) Properties window. In this window we will be adding the information that was emailed to you by Speakeasy. First click on the circle next to Use the following IP address:. Make sure this is the circle selected. This should open up the windows below it for changes.

In these windows you will add the
IP Address: 192.168.1.10
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
