| reply to cokesat In your first pic:
The corrugated-looking box on the right is an RT from the mid-80's or so. It contains technology that was on the bleeding edge... a billion years ago. It's fiber-fed, like other RTs. Not only does it serve POTS ("regular" phone) and T-1 type lines, it also can serve ISDN (woo!).
The box on the left is indeed a VRAD from the U-Verse era.
And in the middle, we have a cross-connect box. Looks to be the same vintage as the VRAD cabinet. It's needed so that any given copper line going to a home or business can be served by either the elderly gentleman on the right, or the spry young'un on the left. |

| Don't get your hopes up about when they'll start serving your area. They're popping them up all over my neighborhood and Ohio has a video bill and Toledo still has yet to see any of the VRads turned up. AT$T has yet to apply for video services for the county. |

| Like i said Ohio has one too. But you still have to go to the state for each area you want to be approved in. You just don't go tell them you want to service the state and do it where ever you want. They still have to know where you are going to offer services. So things are not different and won't be any different. |
