| reply to llgomezg I received the update to 8.0.85 this morning, and could not find on the site what the fixes were either.
I guess the experience goes with the individual rig regarding AVG 8. I installed it on my daughter's laptop late last week and it really slowed the surfing down. Slow enough she made me switch it back to 7.5. On the rig I use it ran the same as with 7.5, so I'm continuing to use 8.0 currently. It is odd though, as we have similar cpu speeds, the same ram, but very different results. |

| reply to TKJunkMail There's a new update on AVG (formerly Grisoft) site, version 8.0.85. I've been looking at the site to see what is fixed, but found nothing.
I've had a terrible experience with v8 so far, I had to roll back 3 stations and a server to v7.5. This seems to be a trend in all AV or now known as Internet Security companies, their latest and greatest version are bloated and full of bugs (Take NOD32, Norton, AVG as examples). |

"AVG8 is known to cause BSOD! Confirmed by their technical support as we rolled it out late last week and 4 servers BSOD over the weekend. Be aware there is no known solution as of yet."

| reply to PunkGod I was having performance issues with AVG Internet Security 8.0 on my Windows Vista Business edition based system.
The AVG support FAQs (see »www.grisoft.com/ww.support) suggested installing a MS update for Vista KB929547 (see »www.microsoft.com/Downloads/deta···ylang=en).
Since installing the update my system is running just fine. LinkScanner is now fast. A complete system scan runs in half the time and I can work away on other things without the system scan effecting me. |

| reply to danny9 said by danny9 :Yes, I'm sure hayc as well as myself know its there. It's the idea in general. Besides it's not just the toolbar. As my earlier post stated, just to many bugs and alot heavier. AVG 7.5 was very good. They can keep v.8 with all the add ons I don't really need. That's if they even get all the bugs fixed. I agree. |

I will not be recommending AVG to anyone as well as other programs that go into the dark hole and TeMerc, thank you for the Bill info on his opin on toolbars could not agree more with him!!! You do know there is an option when you install for it not to install the toolbar. |

| reply to Normandie Normandie in this case Ill recommend you to contact AVG tech support to solve this issue. You can do it on this page: »www.grisoft.com/ww.support-techn···ct?ver=8
Btw there is also possibility to attach some files. If you can attach the scan result screenshot and some of the detected file Im sure it would lead to the solution |

1 edit | reply to danny9 said by danny9 :Had the same problem with the complete scan. Showing a mass of trojans, viruses etc. Did a scan with SuperAntiSpyware and 7.5. Clean, not even a lousy cookie. Every time I reboot---a new network found. Speed has been so so. Most of the time it's not bad at all then slows down some. Kinda up and down. v. 8 does not seem to like MailWasher Pro for some reason either. Keeps losing internet connection even though it's set up to allow all. With 7.5, no problem. But the last thing that irks me to no end is that damn toolbar. I have a license to AVG w/ Firewall. Perfect. Ran it with SuperAntiSpyware and WinPatrol Plus. Plain and simple without all the BS. Very low resources. This Monster they created now is something else. Thanks but no thanks. When 7.5 is gone, so am I. danny9,
Glad that I am not the only one that had this experience with HUNDREDS of trojans etc. This is my experience and I am with you, unless they change it quick, when 7.5 is gone, so am I, I have bought it for all 3 of my computers, but version 8 is the last straw.
Why does it seem that each time a company has a good product they have to "improuve" it to where it is absolutely worthless?
Have a good day, Normandie |

I am using Zone Alarm and it could be there is a conflict with ZA, not sure. I may try to disable ZA and try AVG 8 again when I have time. Maybe I should consider using AVG Internet Suite and remove ZA, or use ZA Suite and remove AVG. Any thoughts about this? Yes for once I can say Keep ZA and remove AVG!!! |
