Hollywood, FL area restaurants...

Okay, I am out of town down here in the Miami area. (Just north in Hallandale Beach). I am looking for a good restaurant to go to. Nothing mega fancy (as I will probably be going directly from my jobsite to the restaurant, so I will be a little dirty.)

I don't care for Chinese food, and I don't really want something that I can get back home (which is Daytona Beach).

Anyone have any recommendations? I usually eat out somewhere good my last night in town (which will be Thursday night).

Hey if it's still there... just behind the fire station at the end of the Hallendale bridge... is a really cool little local beach side bar. They will point you in great direirections if you are friendly.

Glad to hear that it survived the (bridge and that whole mess) rebuild Seemed like something destined to dissapear in the name of progress and big $$$...maybe the fire station too... there could be a 30 story condo there... I'm glad both haven't disappeared.

And told about from a friend that lived in (near there A1A) Hallendale and moved to Key West Otherwise you would never realy know it was there unless actually really local and you would still need to just wander across it being hidden behind the fire station... but it is a wonderful little oasis. that reminds me a little of Key West when in the middle of the morass of the SE FL concrete jungle.

And you know you can't make this shit up... yeah a bar on the beach at the dead end of a bridge (kind of like end of the road Key West) hidden behind a fire station.... but it is just there... and thankfuly and glad to hear still is.

And ya know the name escapes me now though I know exactly where it is.... and as soon as you say it I'll go OH DUHH Yet at the same time, just describing it you knew exactly where I meant, and could always find my way back there.

You know you want to define a hole in the wall place that would definately be one of the quinessential ones.

So to the OP.... you want to find a little Gem in Hallendale... go jump off the end of the bridge... just don't start a fire on your way by

Ok, the best Greek is Taverna Opa. A little bit wild with some table dancing and broken plates, so make sure you are up for that. Food is awesome as is the atmosphere.

For a quieter Italian dinner try Mama Mia its on Hollywood Blvd. next to Young Circle.

Other than that if you drive to Young Circle and park and walk around there are many good restaurants and just pick a place that looks good and has people in it and you can't go wrong.

Yup they are still out there and a good place to hang out when I was a kid. Don't go there anymore but I seen it open and it's still in business even up till this day.

If you ever get back down here again there are two places in Hollywood both are on Hollywood Blvd the first one Ricky's is around the 4000 block of WHB on the north side the place looks like a real dive but the soup and wings are excellent and then west just before University on the South side is a Hooters again good food nice view and I have been the back of that one and for a resturant it's real clean.

As it's going now I'm going to be here every other week. This will be my 3rd week here, with many more to come I am sure.

Not too hot for Hooter's wings. I don't like breaded wings. Might have to look into the other place on Thursday night, as I am leaving Friday morning to go back home.

You can the Hooters wings naked. That way you don't have the breading.

But its still Hooters. Far Better Wings in Key West, many places.

They were here for about a year, had to IMPORT their staff from like Miami (and they still weren't all that HOOTER'ish.)

Then again they probably could have been a HUGE success, if they had just hired local drag queens as the Hooter girls instead of the usual not a clue barely out of high school MAYBE Jr College bimbo's.

The local drag shows at the gay bars are a huge heterosexual draw... would have been a unique Hooters instead of a DISMAL FAILURE.
