| (Problem) Sending Mail... and the solution
Is anyone else having problems sending mail tonight I am receiving these error messages.
Are there sever problems somewhere because I have not changed any my account settings. Thanks!

No. But I use Windows Mail for my ATT e-mail. Did you go ahead and check your settings?

Well can't figure this one out for the life of me.I can verify my second e-mail account but can not my default account per there instructions here.

Why does stuff like this have to be like a Chinese fire drill thought it was cookies but it is not.When I go to verify my main account I get this.
Now what?

| After a couple of calls with my ex-girlfriend and this morning, I can tell you the solution.
Yesterday, the smtp.att.yahoo.com servers began enforcing that the authenticated SMTP sender must match the PRECISE sub-account account that you're trying to send with.
This is the probable final result of »Strange SMTP problems. rearing its head. |

Also just started having the same problem with my other 2 email addresses on all my computers (3). Primary address sends fine, getting error message and can't send on other addresses. |

I did what it said in that thread I have two addresses one default main one that I used when I signed up 5 yrs ago,my second sub account I went through the procedure and verified my sub-account everything is fine with that account.But my main default account that I have been using for five years I still can not send anything without the error messages appearing.What gives with this crap this sucks,why can I not send anything with with main address that I have been using for years??
All my account information is correct so what gives?
Or should I post this in direct?

Ok I am trying to remain calm about this,but it is becoming harder to do.Because the more I look into this more it seems like a lot of crap,I just noticed now that signed on to the yahoo mail interface and sent an e-mail to myself from my default account the web page it works fine no go in thunderbird.Is this just a way to get people to use the web mail instead of using standalone e-mail clients I do not understand this at all.You can not tell me that I am the only one having this problem.You follow their directions and they don't work,so than what do you do.Would someone please shed some light on this Please.
Your help has been much appeciated Lev  ,but is there anyone else that has any other info on this.Because at the moment I do not know what to do to fix this.

However, when configuring thunderbird (the account settings), there should be an "advanced" button where you can specify multiple SMTP server definitions. Then you can select which applies to a particular account.

| Yes, you would have to click the "Add" button, and define additional SMTP servers.
If I remember correctly, the name listed there is the local name you use for the server. You could use different names, but the same actual server (I think). Then set the authentication credentials differently.
Finally, having defined several SMTP servers, you can set which to use for each account. |

So you are saying that you can not authenticate other multiple non sbc accounts with only one sbc account? You can not enter the same email address and password to SMTP authenticate multiple non sbc account anymore? in case I was not clear. If that is the case what kind of BS is this? |

I am also having same issue just noticed it today though,can't send any outgoing,incoming is fine.I also haven't changed a thing,same 1 account @ameritech.net. |

I just setup accounts on thunderbird to test this. It worked fine.
I added two smtp servers, with smtp.att.yahoo.com the server, and the name the email address with which I authenticate.
Then, while in accounts, select the account name, and select which smtp server for that account.
When sending, I select the appropriate "from:" address, and it is sent via the correct smtp server as selected for that account.
