Question about Bellsouth Internet Security Suite

When I did my upgrade to Bellsouth Extreme 6.0 I selected the home networking option and the free Internet Security Suite for one computer.

The question is in the confirmation email I received I got this message (You will receive a separate e-mail message with instructions on how to download and install the AT&T Security product(s) included with your order for FastAccess DSL service.) I so far have not got a email with any instructions.

Has anybody installed the Internet Security Suite from Bellsouth and how did you get the link?

Re: Question about Bellsouth Internet Security Suite

You can actually try to login here www.att.net/securitydownload using your primary email username and password. Follow the three easy steps to download the suite.

Cheers.

It takes 24-48 hours for them to "provision" the internet security to your account so that you are able to activate it. By "provisioning" I mean the time it takes for them to link your security suite package to your username and password. That may be why you have not received the e-mail yet. You can always download it from the website, but if it has not yet been provisioned to your account you will not be able to activate it.

I will wait a few more days, I am in no hurry since I still have the software that came with the computer. I ordered it on Saturday and the 6.0 became active on Monday and the Gateway shipped on Tuesday and I got it today.

What Software came with your Gateway? If it's MacAfee or Norton, you may want to keep it as long as it's already paid for....

McAfee came with my Dell computer and I think it has about 6 months left on it. I was planing to keep it until it expired then download Bellsouth. I just went ahead since I upgraded to 6.0 and added the Security suite while I was at it where I would not have to do it later.

Re: Question about Bellsouth Internet Security Suite

if what you have is working, stay with it. when (or if) you do make this switch, uninstall the current stuff before installing the ATTIS.

and with any big installs/changes, make sure to backup the important files on the PC before starting.

Re: Question about Bellsouth Internet Security Suite

I will probably switch to the bellsouth security when the current one expires, I don't know how good it is or anything but I would rather use it than pay $60 a month to McAfee when it is included in the 6.0 service that I have. The way I look at it is if I was going to pay $60 for McAfee why not get the 6.0 speed and use the $60 a year that I spent on Mcafee and get the higher speed even though I probably do not need anything as fast as 6.0

Re: Question about Bellsouth Internet Security Suite

You can get FREE McAfee anti-virus and firewall protection by downloading it from AOL. It works great, and is far superior to the BellSouth offering.

You do have to sign up for a free AOL account if you don't already have one.

Re: Question about Bellsouth Internet Security Suite

I don't know about McAfee, but truth be told, AT&T does not train the helpdesk how to properly support the internet security (be prepared to call several times or be on the phone for awhile, unless you get lucky) and they are slow to fix flaws (mostly license related things).

All I want is something free that will work. I did not know about the McAfee from AOL. I was actually thinking about AVG after McAfee expired. If I go with McAfee will I need to uninstall the paid version after it expires before I download the free version from AOL? I have been hesitant about the one that Bellsouth is offering but I just went ahead and added it to the order while I was upgrading to 6.0 and that way I would already have it on my account if I wanted to use it.

Re: Question about Bellsouth Internet Security Suite

i would go with AVG over the AT&T one.

you can check over in the Security forum about the best AV programs, but last i looked it was Kaspersky, NOD32, and Norton at the top, with a rather large gap before any of the others came in.

I just wanted to ask a question about this AT&T Internet Security suite.

Who actually makes it?

I very much doubt that BellSouth/AT&T makes it so what company's technology is it built upon?
