Leave it up to the geniuses to find a way to force users to install the bloatware on their CD.
Incorrect read the post above. A call to TS would have resolved the "missing" user ID.

That was my thread.

I had to use the CD to install my Business DSL line.

Interestingly enough, though...the modem automatically logged-in with attreg@att.net and I was able to open a browser and surf while waiting for registration to complete.

I chose my primary username/login and password when registering via the CD.

I've since upgraded to Business DSL 1.5 with 5 static IP addresses.

Here
3 weeks ago a new system was set-up that had the user pick a username and password during their install. Pre-assigned usernames and password are no longer.
