I have a W2K PC that became nearly unusable (frequent explorer crashes, for one)a couple of months ago, and while copying out files from one drive over ethernet, I noticed a directory named \Temp\BTN%Copy1\BTN%Copy2\, that was re-created after I deleted it.
Any idea on what is causing/making this?

| assuming you are sure you comp is malware free, is the folder created when you start copying files or...?
you can use filemon to establish what might be creating it

Bothell, WA | A virus scan came back negative, but there is at least one unwanted item (yahoo toolbar) on said PC. What else, I do not know yet. Copying is done by explorer (simply drag & drop). |

A quick google search didn't yeild me any results, so you might want to do the following, just to be safe. We have some excellent advice givers over at the Sercurity Cleanup forum.

| Well, hijackthis found a big mess (mostly Adobe Reader & Distiller) but not much else. However, fixing that mess improved my said system noticeably. I need to have it functional for a few more days until I can back up my stuff. The only spyware (aside from cookies) was a single instance of some "Alexa related" program. Thanks for all. |
