4 edits | ***Found a way past The Throttle!*** NO JOKE! First off I want to state Clearly THIS IS NOT AN APRIL FOOLS JOKE!.
Second To be clear i am currently a Sympatico user. i have a Speed Stream 5242 connected to a dlink wbr2310 Wireless router. ( switching to tek april 18th! Damn 30days cancel policy) Now onto the Information,
i was throttled this evening to 30kb/s and decided to try some tricks to get past the throttle. After some goofing i decided to try popular protocol ports Like email and port 80 . After waiting I found I was UN throttled when using port 21/80! I thought maybe my throttle was removed So I once again Changed to port 22541 ( my personal BT port) and i was once again throttled i waited 10 minutes nothing changed. i went back to Port 21 Again Unthrottled.
I use azureus.
I have noticed when I am going thru my Router And not direct to the Modem this pretty much shuts down My web broswing ability But so what! I am going to test some other ports see if i can find others that may be Weak to this sneak so i make it work. while web browsing so Others Please try this if Your currently Throttled Change to use port 80, for tcp/udp In az and make sure encryption is on try on a heavily seeded torrent I have seen downloads up to 250k/s During throttle and then i go back to some random super high port. and Its once again 30k/s
Port 80 Max Speed - Unthrottled after a few Minutes! Port 21 Max Speed - Unthrottled after a few Minutes! Port 995 Max Speed - Unthrottled after a Few Minutes! Port 8080 - Reports of Unthottled after a few mins! Port 443 No Go Throttle remains
I Recommend Port 21 or 995 atm As port 80 Can Cause web traffic issues.
At The beginning it seemed like it was stuck in throttled mode but after 5 minutes or so it like ramps up like the Device throttling me gave up ? Please post ports u try as wel test this and Please ensure your throttled prior to posting sucess! |

| reply to hockeynomad Under tools> options for tcp/udp Port Choose port 80 , also encrypt your transport. make sure your in advanced mode I am Currently able to get past the bell Throttle using this. i am assuming its not intended to affect web traffic, so when i shunt encrypted traffic on port 80 it gets confused woo small win for the lil guy Going to send this data to the bt team working to deafeat DPI. |

| reply to morisato are you sure it's the port that makes the difference, or are you just completely unthrottled tonight?
I'm just asking because i've been throttled consistently from 4pm to 2am (and occasionally until 6am) since it kicked in, but for some reason i'm not being throttled at all today |
|
 | I am sure i can See the throttle i had to switch off port 80 to be able to post on the site here. and i am throttled, go back to port 80 and i am UNthrottled. |

Re: ***Found a way past The Throttle!*** NO JOKE! how do you use advanced mode? It tells me that the advanced network settings aren't available for the beginner mode. |

 | reply to morisato Gotcha, I had to run the configuration mode first and select my user type. thanks |
|
 | reply to morisato Tried port 80 and encrypted protocol and still throttled to 30KB/s up and down. |

1 edit | reply to Casaubon Give it a Try and Post your results. i am going to take a screenshot shortly of the Vuze status Monitor etc.. and of the traffic. to make this clearer. wait about 5 minutes thats when mine went up |
|
 | reply to morisato Didn't work for me, but I am connected to my modem via the router. |
|
 | Try port 21 and it may work for you I just watched myself throttled for 10 minutes and then switched ports and am miraculously Unthrottled. |
|
 | reply to morisato Doubt it. Nice April Fools joke. Tis the season anyway... |

I suspect Bell won't let it last for long though. I was definitely throttled using other ports besides 80 and 21. |
|
 | reply to morisato I'm as throttled as ever. Neither port 80 or 21 work for me, plus I have the traffic encrypted. |

|
 | seems to work for me even with traffic unencrytped over those ports try Removing encryption Casaubon Also Radar You may wish to Show a screenshot with a legal Download instead of your current one ) for your own legal safety |
