If its like an ipod mini, the drive is in CF form factor so you could plug it into a card reader. I think I was able to take data off it, I can't remember though.

I got the drive out, and it looks like its uses an IDE connector. This probably could replace the hard drive in my laptop, but I am not sure exactly how I would get the data off first.

Try connecting it to your computer and just copying the data off.. You're going to have to figure out how to provide power to it. Might not be worth it.
