thank you very much
I resolved the problem by copying mstsc.exe and mstscax.dll in "c:\windows\system32" over from an XP SP2 Machine. Works great and I get to keep SP3
your solution fix my problem
best regards |

| reply to Stu Pidaso Thanks for the tip guys - same issue here. I rolled back sp3 and got Remote Desktop working again, but found I had an MSDE w/ SQL client tools configuration that would no longer work, no matter what I tried. It was driving me nuts so I reinstalled sp3 - all good with sqlserver but RDC was back to the defunct pre-release version. Copying the 2 mstsc files into \system32 from an sp2 machine took me back to an earlier, working version. |

| reply to Stu Pidaso Another option is to install adminpak.msi - this includes a different RDC client that is actually much better IMHO, since it let's you setup an MMC style panel with all your RDC hosts. It also installs a slew of other server-management tools which you probably don't need. |

1 edit | reply to Stu Pidaso i copied from an xp sp2 machine but i think it was some updated copy.
What you reall need are the official sp2 RDP client BEFORE any windows update OR xp sp3 RC2 RDP client
I happened to have neither
I googled mstsc.rar
and found
It worked but its chineese font or something. Better then nothing.
Michael Evanchik
If anyone can upload either of the 2 i mentioned it would be very helpful to the community. Thank you |

@com.br | reply to Stu Pidaso I've installed the SP3 RC2 Refresh and works fine. I don't have any problem now. But it's like to use a nuclear bomb to kill some ants, because the file has more than 300MB. Microsoft sucks!!! |

| reply to Stu Pidaso I faced the same problem
Try this solution, it worked for me
1. Download the package from the following location »www.terminalserviceslog.com/mstsc6_1.rar
2. Extract the contents to some folder on your disk (Not the System32 folder)
3. Run the mstsc.exe file from the extracted folder.
This is the only solution i am left with until microsoft releases the next service pack . |
