[rant] What good is SPAM Guard if...

What good is that POS Spam Guard if it constantly captures legit mail without catching on that it's legit?

It's more a pain to have to go to the web to see what got caught, and I still have to review all the mail.

Nothing is 100% accurate. Thats why Yahoo put that little button called "not spam" - so you can tell Yahoo its not spam and in the future will be directed to your inbox instead.

Once again, why bother? I now need to be sure to check the web in addition to my own POP mail client. Mail clients (decent ones anyhow) can be trained for spam detection.

Why bother the overhead and cost incurred with Spam Guard if it's useless and serves to annoy people? AT&T-Yahoo should just endorse Eudora or Thunderbird or some similar client that can do the job better and with less annoyance.

Big companies don't think twice about offshoring jobs to save 1K. Just dump the POS crap and save a whole bunch and not piss people off for a change.

Been eating that recalled Malt-o-Meal for breakfast again?

I go in with the idea that they are a dumb pipe provider. That's all they should be.

If you use them for mail or anything else then you get what you deserve.

Yeah, but I got to pay for the $--- I don't need/want/care for, etc. Reduce costs by dumping this crap.

Go to the web mail access just one more time; you can make this the last time:

Click on the "Options" link (upper right on the page).

Click on the "Spam Protection" link (column, labeled, "Spam", link labeled, "Spam Protection").

Click on the link labeled, "More Bulk Folder options for POP users".

Select the option labeled, "I want to receive all messages, including those that SpamGuard thinks are spam". Checking the "Bulk" tag box is optional; recommended for MS Outlook Express users, but Thunderbird, and some other mail agents can filter on the "X-YahooFilteredBulk" header line.

Save out all of your changes. SpamGuard will now allow your POP3 client to download all of your email; even those it thinks are spam.

P.S. You can edit your subject, or request that this be moved to the "Rants, Raves and Praise" forum, if all you truly wanted was to rant.
