speed factory seems to be no more....

My internet was down(my wife called from home). I tried to call them but all circuits where busy. I went by the shallowford office, (I was at a client's business about 2 miles from there) and the doors were locked.

Their web site is down, the nextphase web site is down.

Other people were doing the same thing I was...

Things do not look good from the best little ISP I ever had.

RIP Speedfactory...

Oh, btw, I will be disputing the credit card charges...

Our SF connection was down as of this morning - my wife called to let me know - and I had that same sick feeling when I found that "all circuits are busy", and their domain is unpingable. I called a number in Anaheim for NextPhase Wireless, got a nice young lady who said "nobody's in the office today" (not sure if she meant in GA or CA), but that "they're aware of the problem and working on it... they hope to have it back up by 8PM tonight". I pressed her a bit on whether the lights were permanently going out and she assured me that was not the case.

I'm still worried. Watch the NPHS stock price (they're OTC).

Dave (wondering if I'm going to be ISP-shopping this weekend).

Noticed the same thing. It was down earlier in the week for several hours (for me) so I'll give them a bit more time. If they are truly gone then a little notice to switch to another provider would have at least been the professional thing to do - assuming that's still any sort of priority - as certainly an imminent demise should've been known well in advance.

Well ther was a guy getting ready to kick the door in to get his servers out, they co lo his servers...

Nobody in the office? ISP? Phones disconnected? Maybe the girl in CA has not been told she was fired yet...

Well, assuming they are down (which would really be unfortunate as I've rarely had problems with them in years.. even through the irregular-billing fiasco), does anyone know of another good IFITL reseller that has static IPs?

I really do hope they come up......

I have a 1 pm install tommorrow with charter that I REALLY would like to be able to avoid. I hate charter....

But bellsouth is the only other real option I know on short notice.... sigh

I've been a Speedfactory loyalist for sometime now, having been in the "telocity > directvinternet > snappydsl > speedfactory" route...

But if the doors are locked, the website is down, and nobody knows anything?

My choices other than cable are simply this Atlantic Nexus or Bellsouth/AT&T or whatever.

I can do 6 MB down / 512K up with Bellsouth for $42.00
Atlantic Nexus is 3.5/384 for the same fees, according to their website.

Any other choices? (Covad/Speakeasy is not an option for me).

it's 3:30pm 4/11/08 Friday, I got cut off @ 11:15 am and and tried to call the support and all circuits are busy. I think they have gone out of business but I would like to give them the benefit of the doubt, so what type of time limit do we agree on 2 days 3 days ? I also have a funny feeling they will continue to charge me for no service as well. This is very unfortunate and un-business like.

Assuming the woman in California is correct, then I'll at least give them to tomorrow as who knows if she's referring to 8pm EDT or PDT. All my mail comes (will/used to) to my server at my house so I don't want to sit on that too long as SMTP servers only retry so long and getting new DNS records out there will take long enough. At least in my experience, the only time a large number of people are out of the office on a Friday (much less the entire office) is when they're not coming back.

All routes for speedfactory are gone (they are no longer advertising to any of their peers). I suspect this is the ugly end to what was otherwise an excellent service.

Not sure it will be easy to replace these guys

That's it then. I'm not stickign around.

Verifying that there's no 6mb down with Atnex and then calling bellsouth.

Any Ideas for DSL in ATL w/Statics.

I'm going to be lost without my /28

Looks like Atlantic Nexus does have business class with a /28. That's what I'm going to try - though, at a higher price. Hopefully the time of the small, independent ISP is not gone.

Since none of their other communication methods is working, I found this:

NextPhase Wireless, Inc.
CONTACT: investor & media relations, Elite Financial Communications.

Can't get through now to Marietta or Anaheim so I called their 1-407-585-1080 investor number and asked about opportunities. The guy there told me they were having some trouble with their internet connection and website but that their phones worked, as he had talked with them this morning. I told him about the all circuits busy and he said there must be a bigger problem.

I just called their California office at 714-765-0010 and was told that they are working to get back on line. They are down right now as well. They promised to get back to all clients. They host my business website as well as my daughter's business website and we have no way to retreive the text and data right now. She promised to get back to my this weekend. We'll see.

I went with BS. (ugh) For the same money as I was paying for "Speedhome Platinum" or whatever ($42/mo), I can do 6 down 512 up with Bellsouth with static ip. I don't run servers from the house like I used to, so I can handle their port blocking.

BTW - check out the discussion on NPHS (Next Phase's stock ticker) on yahoo finance. There's a few reports in there from someone named Wendy. If only we had been reading it - we should have bailed some time ago.

And, to be nice, Speedfactory hit my credit card last night for $42. Time to call 'em.

I'm bailing. Since I'm on IFITL, BSFA seems to be my only other choice, so I ordered it this afternoon. They insist they'll need a truck roll (not till Tuesday morning) "to check the exterior wiring" (sheesh), but the CSR assured me there'd be no "expert installation" charge (99.95, which was selected and locked-on when I tried the online ordering page). I really would like to save BS some money here, with gas at $3.35/gal, couldn't they just reprovision my line remotely and send me the user/pwd info for PPPoE?

Good luck to all - I feel especially sorry for the colo's and hosted domains who have to scramble to get back online.

Right behind you time to cut my loses. Atlantic Nexus seems like the only substitute in town.
