I travel quite a bit and they do a very good job at keeping the highway signs confined to a specific area, so as long as they only alert the immediate and surrounding areas, I don't think it would be bad.

I'm all for helping rescue kids (and anyone else for that matter) who are in danger, but I've always had a sneaking suspicion that this is just one of those "feel-good" measures that allows politicians to look like they're doing something.
That being said, I wouldn't mind SMS Government Alerts on my cell phone provided I don't have to pay for it, if I could opt-out of receiving them (or a subset of them like Amber Alerts), and if they don't end up spamming my inbox.

I have been receiving Amber Alert text messages for a goodly period of time and they appear to be just for the region, i.e. not for OK, etc.
I have Cingular/AT&T and have not been charged for the amber alerts. |

Someone please sign me up for the alerts, I already routinely carry a Legally Concealed Firearm, and wish to help out wherever needed.

I think it is good to be on the look out for someones missing child. What if it were your kid.
What if the abductor took the child all the way to your state. Wouldn't you want to help?

I just don't understand others lack of concern and all they consider things like this as a nuisance. |
