| LINKSYS Wireless-G Notebook Adapter BIG PROBLEM
Hi everyone,
I HAVE A HUGE PROBLEM HERE.
I have installed the Linksys W. Notebook Adapter ver. 1.2 with a 3. something driver to it. My Laptop is connecting to the network but is only sending between 3-6 packages, whilst not receiving anything. So I am perfectly connected but can´t go on the internet and am not receiving anything. when checking the properties of the Adapter, it says: MISSING THE ASSOCIATION WITH AP what the h. does that mean? If I change to adhoc it says I am connected but I cant go online or anything. PLEASE HELP |

Do you receive an address lease (assuming you're using DHCP)? Can you connect to the gateway itself? Which access point model is it? Some more details would be helpful. |

1. Exact model number of the adapter
2. Driver version that you have installed for the adapter
2. Operating system of the laptop
3. How did you install the adapter; did you install the software first before connecting the adapter?
4. Wireless settings of the router (SSID, Channel, wireless security mode)
In installing an adapter, make sure that you will install it with the correct driver, for it to work properly. Most of the adapters now needs the software to be installed first before connecting the adapter itself on the computer. Then after installing the adapter's driver/software, it needs to be configured with the same SSID and wireless security mode/key of the router. If everything is correct, the wireless connection status should be connected and you should be able to go online. |

In fact, I just finished repairing a wireless network adapter install gone wonky for exactly that reason (user was running Vista, but managed to install the XP driver and software). Once I removed the XP driver/software, I rebooted, reconnected the adapter, which shortly thereafter detected my own wireless router (Linksys, same as the adapter) and secured using WPA2 and AES; once I inputted the correct key, I was set. |
