| Is AT&T is milking POTS users?
I've got POTS service, and feel AT&T is squeezing me. It'd be less expensive to move my POTS lines to wireless. Does AT&T expect to just milk POTS users forever with high prices and poor service? -- "People demand freedom of speech as a compensation for the freedom of thought which they seldom use." |

| reply to pandora Just because you have a Copper Line doesn't mean you have "Plain Old Telephone Service." What AT&T is doing, is squeezing everything it can from it's Copper Infrastructure. I think this was a bad decision on AT&T's part. FTTH is the way of the Future! |

I think this was a bad decision on AT&T's part. FTTH is the way of the Future! Yep.. you would think someone would have been paying attention when Sprints ION died before it left the ground. No, they DID see it through. Yes, they had turned up a few customers. Yes, it was installed nationwide in over 200 major pop's. Then 2bil in the hole. BANG! Pull the plug and it was all down hill from there. Now gotta wonder, if WiMAX will be Wireless's ION? Bottom line, you can get only so much water from a sponge. Think AT&T was a little late to the party on this one. |

| reply to patcat88 Barely, since they set a minimum charge of 1 dollar per each day you use the phone. So one call a day, that may be 30-60 minutes a month of calling will at minimum cost you 30 bucks. It was was actually per minute that same amount of calling would cost only 7.50-15 a month at 25 cents a minute. So prepaid doesn't work for anything but 100% emergency usage. |

Oddly enough, it's only AT&T's prepaid wireless that has that stupid per day access charge. I'm on VirginMobile, if I wanted to I could buy the $90 minute pack once a year, and pay 18c a minute. They have other options as well, it's certainly not $30 a month just to HAVE the phone. -- Intel Quad Core QX6700 @3500Mhz/Asus P5N32-E SLI/4x 1024Mb Corsair/Seagate 750.10/PNY 7800GTs SLI/Silverstone 850W/Custom water cooler |

prepaid works if you use the right provider. at&t prepaid doesn't make sense. |
