While I am using the FIOS telephone as our home phone service, I have Broadvoice VoIP in my office, and bought the Magic Jack to try out as well. In fact, since I upgraded from Comcast, my Broadvoice line has been flawless. |

As a gadget guy, I thought $40 for the first year was not a lot to decide if it works as advertised. It works fine, but the call clarity is not like that of my Broadvoice VoIP line or the FIOS house line. It is probably similar in quality to a less than perfect cell phone.
One feature of the voicemail is nice - you can configure it to automatically send an audio file of voice messages when they are received to a preconfigured address. I sent them to my Blackberry and it was able to play them.
One of these days, when I have to send a fax from my computer, it should come in handy. A short phone line from the computer into the Magic Jack which is plugged into the computer. A loop! |
