It's not difficult to plug the modem into the wall and then the phone line into the modem. Because voip is more sensitive to problems than internet traffic. You can have crappy wiring and splitters and the internet may work fine. The same wires will cause echoing and breakup on a phone call. More than 2/3 of the phone self install kits will result in a technician coming out to fix something. It's not that the emta caused the problem. The problem was always there, you just never noticed it.
