| reply to abates2k Ok, your probably out of the VRAD next to the 7-eleven shopping center on the corner there. DWP just ran power to that VRAD about 2-3 weeks ago. I was just there a few days ago and didnt see any Uverse circuits yet. But it should be anytime now. They probably waiting on the engineering office to release it. I will keep you posted when it goes live. |

| I post this in the AT&T Direct forum and thought I would post it here also.
U-Verse and existing 3rd party DSL
I attempted to order U-Verse and was told since I already have DSL service through a 3rd party provider, AT&T can not place the order. I have 2 seperate CO lines. One has DSL and one does not. I also have a dry loop with ADSL2+ with Covad as the provider. I already planned on cancelling the shared line DSL on one of CO lines but do I need to cancel my dry loop service also? Also since I have a line with no dsl service installed, why can't this line be used for U-Verse? I work from home and I can not afford to be without internet access for an extended amount of time. Has anyone had issues with ordering U-verse with 3rd party dsl already in place? |

| Uverse gets assigned to the line that has the Uverse provisioned pair. Its already like that in the records. Im not exactly sure how it is handled if there is no primary pair or its on a different number. Its probably handled on a case by case basis when the order is issued. Also, it would make sense that having 3rd party DSL would throw a wrench in the works, as AT&T cannot migrate other ISP's data service into the VRAD. |

| I was able to cancel my 3rd party dsl on my primary line and order shared line dsl from AT&T on my second line. Doing so allowed me to place an order for U-verse over the phone without having to wait for my primary line to clear. Since I went ahead an ordered dsl on my second line, they were willing to work with me and placed the order and gave me an install date. I'm only keeping the shared line dsl for a few days and it will be switch over to U-verse during the install. Since I work from home, I could not afford any down time so the shared line dsl was a must. Also if my install is delayed, I still have an internet connection. |

| I work from home as well, and have 3rd party DSL (works well). Since I purchased an OTA HD converter, and can pick up 26 OTA HD (probably at least a couple more should be available if I pick up a 'real' antenna). With this many 'free' local channels in digital HD, I have no incentive to purchase service from TW, AT&T, Dish or DTV. -- Canada = Hollywood North |
