| OnDemand problem.
Hi,I was hoping someone here could help me out.Ive had Comcast Digital cable with OnDemand for the past 18 months.Never had a problem with the OnDemand feature until recently.About 3 weeks ago when using the OnDemand menu it would move very slow and sometimes just freeze up.This didn't happen every day but often.Then 5 days ago I began receiving Meta-6 error messages every-time I tried using OnDemand.I then unplugged the cable box for a few minutes,plugged it back in and turned the box back on.The Meta-6 error message stopped but I got a communications error message instead.Ive unplugged the box again but I still get a communications error message.When clicking the OnDemand button the communications error box appears on screen, but I can still hear the audio from the OnDemand channel.I then click the Menu button 3 times and I get the picture.But the picture is located only in the upper right hand corner and lower left hand corner of the screen.No menu appears.
I turned the cable box off and waited 2 seconds and clicked on the O.K button to get to the hidden menu.Below is some info I got from it.

| Meta6 is most likely becuase your upstream is at 61. WAY past operational.
Your box either has the reverse path blocked by a device ( amp, bad splitter, hooked up AFTER the VCR... ) or there are too MANY devices between your box and the tap. Too many splitters, etc, adding to the upstream. -- CableTechs.org/"Horrible People with Integrity" |

| reply to Digital70 ya sounds like a signal/ingress (interference) problem. try getting the box off the 1st or 2nd splitter if possible. you might also want to try 'barreling' the line from the main line to the box. to do that just get an f-81 barrel (like from a wall plate) and make it go from the main inline feed to the box without any splits. also it cant hurt to go outside and look at the pole to see if mabey you were padded with a filter at the pole, in which case you must call the cable co. the diag screen you posted should have a valid IP address and say 'running' under state usually wait so ack is a signal prob. btw im a cable guy |

The OnDemand feature had been working fine without any problems for over a year until recently.Ive not changed how my cable box is setup to the TV in over a year.The OnDemand feature suddenly stopped working. |

@comcast.net | reply to Digital70 sounds like either a bad drop, bad outlet or possibly a bad box. lets not forget the possiblilty you have been padded (a filter put on your line at the pole) time to call the cable co. |

@comcast.net | reply to Digital70 make sure everything is tight....i was at a call the other day the box was wait so ack which is usually a signal issue and it was just suck out from a loose connector....if not you got signal issues....a box will never get ondemand with wait so ack |

@snet.net
| reply to Digital70 I had a very similar issue to what you are experiencing after the lastest remapping of the channels in my area. What we figured out by trial and elimination was that me DECT 6.0 digital phone's transform was causing the interference. Sounds strange, but you describe my exact problem and as soon as we isolated the cable box (mine was a DVR) on to a outlet by itself the problem cleared up.

@verizon.net | reply to Digital70 I had this problem as well, except I could see the picture in the background. It was the same error message though. After just leaving it that way for 2 or 3 minutes, the error message disappeared.
PS I don't have comcast HSI, just cable |
