| Re: Black & Decker GrassHog 18-Volt Cordless Trimmer I have had one for 2 years (as well as the matching leafblower) and am very satisfied. The trimmer works just about as well as my old gas trimmer. The leaf blower has decent power as well.
The ability to swap batteries and use a different lawn tool is another cool and convenient feature.

clubs: | I bought one at Lowes a couple years ago. It works great and I really like it compared to using a corded trimmer. I trim a 1/3 acre lawn with mine. Depending on if I trim along the neighbors fence I may have to change the battery to finish. | |

| Re: Black & Decker GrassHog 18-Volt Cordless Trimmer Another nice perk is that if you have multiple lawn tools (the trimmer and blower like I have) you will develop a stash of batteries. Each lawn tool comes with 2 batteries.
I always keep three fully charged and one in use. When the batteries dies I charge the dead battery and rotate one of the fresh three into the tool in use.
I also have near a 1/3 acre plot and normally can do all my trimming after 2+ mows without replacing the battery. | |

| I bypassed the B&D when I spotted the Ryobi 18volt model at HomeDep. I have a couple of One+ batteries so his was a no-brainer. It is very similar to the grasshog. The best thing was the price, $40.

But what is cool is I can use the lith batt for my other Ryobi tools. The Circular saw, sander,vacuum,drill, impact drill, flash light. The bad thing as of right now. I can't find just the battery on it's own. Homedepot online is OOS and none in stores. Ebay seems the way to go. | |

| Yep, I have one. My older model one died on me after a few years including my neighbor using it, so I purchased this one. So far works good, but I HATE how fast the trimmer line goes out. It's a self feeding trimmer line that you have ZERO control over. If you snag something a little thicker than normal, it starts letting out the line. You could almost hear your money being vacuumed out of your wallet as it's doing that. lol
Other than that, I like it. It does my small front and back yard well on one battery. I never charged the second battery. I was told it would last longer when I needed it to just charge it at that time. So', I'm using one battery until it dies, then start using the second.
I also have the B&D 24 volt lawnmower. I love it. I've had it a few years so far and changed the battery on it once. No big deal, it was about $40 for a new one. Very quiet, cuts good, not perfect, because I should sharpen/change the blade more often. Again, my neighbor uses it for his lawns. lol
Ummm, corded leafblower/vac too. Bottom line, small yard/no gas, oil, or spark plugs. Ahhhh. good luck.
PS I'd love to get some kind of metal string for the trimmer that does not get cut off every few seconds. It's like printers and ink. Damn them. DAMN THEM!!! | |

Wow, definitly not the case with me. I've had the same issue with both trimmers I've had. I buy the 3-pack of trim line for $16/pack or so. No big deal, but I do go through at least a 3-pack every srping summer. I don't really keep count. I just replace them when they're gone. Could be more. Again, 2 yards being done during the season.
Maybe we abuse them by digging too much into the grass or something. I don't know. I would say I'm using it right, but hearing your experience, I MUST be doing something wrong. All I do is grass edges of the lawn, and a little straight line sidewalk edge trimming.
Either way, I do recommend the battery powered tools if your lawn is small enough. | |

I don't know. Maybe I'll ask around. But to who? I wish I could. One thing that may be helping me is that I don't lash the line against hard items (fencing, rocks, concrete) that much. When I trim I normally trim the grass back and am careful to avoid trimming excessively close to harder items which may chew through the line. Maybe I'm too careful?

| I have a $35 KingKraft trimmer I got from Aldi's. It's going on 3 years, runs great. I trim lawn once/week. Still on the orignal factory line as well!

| I have had the Grasshog for two years now and I love it. I considered switching to gas when I moved into a bigger property, but stuck with the cordless. Still using the same trimmer spool. I never cut anything other than grass.
I just added the cordless sweeper and between my B&D drill, trimmer and sweeper I now have 6 batteries and 3 chargers. I put 4 batteries on to charge the night before I landscape and always have enough power. Maybe 300 feet of trimming and sweeping after mowing.
The sweeper was on clearance last week at Home Depot locally for $50. Hard to beat that.
I highly recommend the B&D 18 volt cordless tools. | |
