Speed issues in Central Florida

Hello,

I would like to see if anyone else is having speed issues in Central Florida with Embarq DSL.

I have the 10/896 plan and just this morning have been experiencing a horrible time with latency and slow downloads.

The techs I have spoke with via live chat and phone have so far been unhelpful and VERY rude also claiming that getting 200ms + response times from the same city I am in is "normal".

I was able to get my full speeds from their local ftp speed test server however anywhere else on the internet is simply horrible.

Same issues and same results with tech support.Although my plan is the 5mb, I'm getting horrible download speeds and Embarq insisting that its me and my computer

I also have horrible speeds today with Embarq. I have the 1.5 plan and have been seeing tops ~350 k, I spoke to tech support and I get over 1 mbit to their ftp server, but outside them it is slow. According to the useless rep I spoke with there is no general problems, and he can't control the speed of the internet outside embarq.

Hello,

I have issues with my service as well.

I upgraded from 5.0 to 10.0 mb just yesterday and could not get any higher than 6.5, the tech called a service order in and a guy showed up yesterday and found the modem to be the problem. Changed out the modem and the service worked as advertised, until today. Could not get any better than 1.0 and usually only 600. Called and talked to the service dept. and they sent out a tech who changed out the modem again with no joy. He left and said he would come back in the morning to try again.

I just ran a test and had 9.6 and thought great, did a second test and was bad again. Guess we will see what the morning brings...

Technician arrived and worked all day and still have the same results. Well to say the same result would not be true, the system hangs and is intermittent. Some test will be 9meg and I will run it again and it hang or give .5 I will wait a day or so and see what happens

Another day brings results.

I ran a test and found all to be well. The results are 9.8 m down and 805k up. I don't know how, if it was the work of the technician's who came and worked or if the settings were adjusted or if the system was having problems but the speed is constant.
