Has anyone successfully used a Wireless Bridge with their Actiontec modems? I know a while back someone said that the Actiontec wireless modems from Qwest were squirrelly with AP/Bridges. |

| While not for the faint of heart perhaps, for my needs Ive taken a best-of-breed approachI have a wireless bridge that connects to my PPPoE firewall/router which connects to my bridged DSL modem. This allows me to have flawless wireless connectivity alongside a do-anything firewall and a modem that does nothing but bridge my connection.
I couldnt be happier. |

| reply to Indiglo If you want to use the wireless function of an actiontec modem, I have, but it's flaky. The Client (bridge) will have to be reset after any prolonged period of inactivity.
If you mean to connect an AP to an ActionTec modem, and then wirelessl;y bridge to the AP, you're fine. |

| reply to Indiglo My Actiontec GT701WG's wireless antenna is fine, connecting the modem to something basic like a Linksys WRT54G (or GS in my case) is better, though not by much with the antennas it comes with. In my experience, performance and range were about equal with the modem's wireless and the Linksys' wireless, though that's just me.
Unlike what RevMortis said, I haven't had to reset the client on the modem at all, even though its wireless hardly ever gets used (though it's always on with basic encryption). Again, that's just me. |

| I have a WRT54 GL with the white russian Open WRT firmware on it. The only time I have problems is after a power failure and the bridge would fail to connect to the Actiontec which is booting at the same time. I routinely get uptimes of 150 days or more. |
