You're speaking of the IE ActiveX browser helper, if I'm not mistaken? It's listed in A/R Programs. You can uninstall it there. Or simply delete the file and its Registry entries, or run the Flash uninstaller available for download from Adobe/Macromedia.
What are some of the 'many solutions' you've tried, without luck? |

| reply to brickkwallattack Have you tried the Adobe Flash Player uninstaller?
»kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewCon···tn_14157
And yes, a little more info as to what exactly is happening and what you've tried already might be helpful.
(Edit) Oops...I see AB has already suggested the Adobe uninstaller. If you haven't tried that yet, I would give it a shot. -- I had a life once.....now I have a Computer and a Modem. |

| reply to brickkwallattack thank for the info no it could not be removed it embed and when you click the app.it says install remind me latter and do not install. but this was anembedd to upgrade to 11 or a new type of flashplayer.this file would not remove i even had aspecial tool that canremove a file in use and that fail .this acted like a rootkit nothing could remove it. al i could do is nothing about it .So i kill the os and started fresh .my advice to anyone thinking of using this flashplayer 11 from adobe is watch out this thing is doing more that flashing videos and advertising. i will not allow anymore flashplayer to run un monitored anymore i do not trust the product and it seems to override security setting to allow a lot of advertisng.and now due to this little mess that this caused i lost alot of videos and movie links that tooks hour of work to setup and find total loss. i wont waste my time with windows addon or products anymore i'm just going to allow this system to just outdate and die but i will not update or upgrade to another useless windows os just not worth the time or money. all windows products in my eyes are made to cheat, rob, lie, and plunder user for money and i had enough.sorry about the rant but the truth hurts. |

| I found that the newest flash player is not much different then the old.
I have not seen an increase in ads and if you go to macromedia and use the Flash Settings Panel and set the options available you can put a damper on much of what flash may want to do.

| reply to brickkwallattack thanks for the info i already removed all flashplayer object from my pc as of today this pc will not be allow videos streaming flash advertisingor anyother flash allow app. i strarted using it because i was watching videos but after this drama issue no more videos or the stated above i do not trust or care to trust this company and it's software agian if i go to apage and the only way to view it is by using flash then i will not view the page and move on like i did years before i never allow it and had little trouble surfing. hen the fix their product to work honestly with users then i'll think about using it but till then noway. oh are you aware that those setting have to be sets at ever site you use that player so a user would find them selves constantly chasing this player around like a wild card on the loose! no they can keep this crapware i want no part of it.yet another item on the list not to use or install is what i have a lot of from windows. thanks agin |

Do not know who told you that but that is wrong unless you want different sites to use flash differently. I set it once and that is it.
Of course if one was to delete the settings.sol on their hard drive then the user would need to reset it. -- "Why answer any questions when you can pull a MuMu"? - unknown |

I do have the flash plug-in and use the settings you've suggested in the Flash Settings Panel. | reply to brickkwallattack I have never had to change any settings in flashplayer when I change sites, it just works.
The only time I look at settings is after an update to make sure they haven't changed. |

| reply to brickkwallattack I'm sorry a did not make my self clear about settings. true you can set them and they should in all respects stay as set but i found that every site i used the flashplayer and opening the settings i had to reset them. It gave me a clear message to allow the site to store data in it.Everytime i respond and set deny( do not ask again). But the real issue was why did adobe 9 flashplayer embed it self in my system and could not be removed.Tried to upload the attach but but it fail to show here. The file in system32/macromed contained flashplayer help 9 and when you clicked it open it wants to install or ask me later, but not allow to remove like an embed ad. Anyway not sure about all this but for now I'll keep away from the flashplayer till i understand what this is all about.I will add this, I found a file in the macromed folder with the helper 9 and it said unknown and that file was embedded also. |

At any rate, it's buried at 'Documents and Settings/[User]/Application Data/Macromedia/Flash Player/macromedia.com/support/flashplayer/sys'.
If it's not there, it will be re-created once a Flash video asks you about storing data on your hard drive, or you make a change at the settings site online. |

| reply to Pentangle If you did a search and it did not show up it may be being hidden by Windows.
Proceed to folder options and make sure you have:

Thank you for using our software and i hope you do not mind I'm removing your data without consent to sell for a profit. This has got to be one of the more ill-informed posts about privacy/spyware I have ever seen. It does, however, point out the unwarranted fear that is generated when users with little or no understanding begin looking around their computers at application and/or system files they really have no business looking at. Files of these kind are created and maintained for the benefit of the user by making the application more efficient or user friendly. Think of them as .ini files (for the most part a settings file from a bygone era of Windows). They maintain information from session to session on what your preferences are for the application. They are not there for the purpose of "keeping tabs" on the user. If anything, one could say they are there so the user can "keep tabs" on himself. -- Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness. . .
